Raemyn is excited to be joining the Prep Academy Tutors team in the role of Franchise Support Manager. She has been working with Prep Academy for over two years. Raemyn is a certified teacher who is familiar with the curriculum guidelines and expectations over various grade levels, and she specializes in teaching English and Social Sciences. Raemyn majored in Educational Studies and graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree and a Bachelor of Education degree. Raemyn is passionate about creating a safe, inclusive, and better educational experience for students. In her free time, Raemyn enjoys watching hockey, traveling, and spending time with her family

Aana is working towards completing her Master of Teaching degree at the University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. She completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts at the University of Toronto, graduating with High Distinction. Her majors included English and Sociology, as well as a minor in French Studies. Aana has spent many summers working as a camp counselor. During her undergrad, she volunteered as a tutor and mentor for high school students in a mentorship program organized in partnership with UT’s Faculty of Medicine and the Peel District School Board. She also works as an English language facilitator for ELL students.

Adam received a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Teacher Education (Primary/Junior) from Niagara University in 2019. Since then he has held positions as an OT, and LTO with the Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board. His Undergrad is a Bachelor of Arts in Spec. Honours for Film.  In his spare time Adam  also loves playing various sports.

Alan is a retired elementary teacher with 26 years of classroom teaching experience. Alan attained his BA with a Fine Art Major in 1987 from the University of Guelph and in 1990 received his B Ed from the University of Toronto. He is a father of three grown children and lives with his wife of 33 years in Mississauga. He is able to teach all subjects in the Ontario curriculum and has a wide range of knowledge and instructional strategies that he has developed over the years. He is able to utilize on line platforms for distance learning. His hobbies include golf, crossword puzzles, playing the piano and cooking.

Alessandra graduated with a Master of Teaching at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education (OISE). Prior to this, she completed her undergrad in Early Childhood Education and has spent 7 years working at a daycare as a Registered Early Childhood Educator.

Alessandra believes in creating a learning environment that involves children’s interests to keep her students engaged and willing to take risks regarding their own personal growth. She has worked with students with exceptionalities, taught students in reading and writing skills as well as mathematics and participated as an assistant coach for junior girls volleyball.

Alessandra is committed to life-long learning and devotes time to volunteer at the schools where she completed her placement in Peel, Dufferin-Peel and Toronto District School Boards. In her spare time, Alessandra enjoys reading, hiking, attending concerts and cheering on the Toronto Maple Leafs.

In 2016, Alethea graduated George Brown College with a Diploma in Early Childhood Education. Having
found her passion, she continued her education at Ryerson University, where she obtained her Degree in
Early Childhood Studies. By completing both programs, she has gained a thorough understanding of child
development and learning strategies through practical application, theory, and research. Throughout her
studies, Alethea has completed six internships, working with children between the ages of infancy to 12
years of age. Her internships included special education, ESL, and an opportunity to implement the ‘We
Will Read’ program with the TDSB. Prior to her post-secondary studies, Alethea studied classical violin
at the Royal Conservatory of Music from age 4, as well as visual arts. Both her arts training and academic
experience established her beliefs in utilizing our skills to challenge ourselves, push ourselves out of our
comfort zone, and achieve our personal bests. Alethea inspires and motivates her students with her
patience, support, and creativity. She believes there is a solution for every obstacle, and well-developed

Alex is an Ontario Certified Teacher at the Junior, Intermediate and Senior level. She specializes in English and Social Sciences.

Alex has been teaching in London, England for the past two years. With this experience she has taught in a variety of classrooms from Kindergarten to Grade 12 in all subjects.

Hello! I am a native of Montreal with Franco-Ontarian roots. I hold a Bachelor of Arts in History from Dalhousie University and am currently enrolled in a Master’s of Childhood Education at D’Youville College in Buffalo, NY. Drawing on diverse roles working with youth as an outdoor education instructor, wilderness guide, mentor, ESL teacher and Katimavik project leader, I bring a wealth of experience to my tutoring and academic coaching practice. I am passionate about languages and culture, both English and French, and math appeals to the logical side of my brain. Recognizing different learning styles, encouraging a spirit of inquiry, and connecting learning and experience are cornerstones of my approach as an educator.

Alicia’s passion for education and working with children began long before her pursuit of her teaching degree. She has been able to transfer the many skills she has gained over the years as a camp counsellor, lead excavator at an archaeological site (teaching undergraduate students), teaching internationally in Colombia, South America (grade 3), and as an ESL instructor to young adults, into her teaching career. After her Masters in Education, Alicia pursued a teaching degree at the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education. She was hired by the Toronto District School Board and has been working as an elementary teacher with the board for the last seven years. Her focus as a teacher has been the junior and intermediate grades, with most of her teaching experience at the sixth grade level. All of these amazing experiences have informed and shaped Alicia’s pedagogical practice and her unwavering commitment to student success and engagement.

Alicja graduated with an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto and received her Bachelor of Education degree at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. Alicja also completed Additional Qualification courses for Special Education and English as a Second Language. She is OCT certified. Alicja’s areas of specialty include the Intermediate/Senior divisions, with a particular focus on Religious Education, Geography and the Social Sciences. She values continual and lifelong learning, as demonstrated through her ongoing professional development, with an emphasis on Special Education, Inclusive Education, Reading and the Primary/Junior divisions. Alicja was the recipient of various awards throughout her undergraduate and graduate years, including being the recipient of the Vari Scholarship and being named a Dean’s List Scholar in the Faculty of Arts and Science. She also was the recipient of 19 honours and awards at her secondary school.

For as long as Alicja can remember, teaching has been her vocation. She has been volunteering as a Teacher Aid in many elementary and secondary school classrooms since 2006, most recently working one-on-one with a student identified as having a Language Impairment. She was also an assistant instructor of the Language Instruction For Newcomers To Canada Program and currently assists in teaching the Confirmation classes at her parish.

Amanda received her undergraduate degree at York University in Social Work, followed by a Bachelor of Education, specializing in Primary/Junior grade levels. Being a teacher has always been a dream for Amanda, and she continues to aim to empower students in order to reach great success. She is a strong advocate for children of all abilities, and believes in equitable experiences for all. Amanda has been working with children and youth for ten years, and continues to embark on her love of learning. Her experience working with diverse groups of students, as a classroom student teacher, a camp leader/coordinator, arts, sports, and cooking instructor, and volunteering in various special needs programs, have empowered her passion to teach.

Amanda has worked one-on-one with many ESL and ELL learners, and students who have had behavioural and developmental exceptionalities, helping them gain confidence within their learning experience. She has spent time in various after school programs, assisting learners with reading and writing skills, ensuring they receive positive results.

Amanda received her Honours BSc at the University of Western Ontario. She discovered her passion for teaching while teaching English in South Korea. Her diverse range of teaching experiences has supported her in developing a broad range of knowledge and instructional strategies targeted to support learners of all abilities. In her free time, Amanda enjoys cooking, practicing yoga, listening to podcasts, and spending time with her family.

In 2016, Amanda received her Bachelor of Health and Physical Education at the University of Toronto in the Faculty of Kinesiology and Physical Education. After her graduation, she then took a year to coach an All-Star Cheerleading team and work at a local Daycare. This decision was guided by her love of working with children in a variety of settings. She recently completed her Master of Teaching at OISE at the University of Toronto focusing on participation and promotion of physical activity and physical literacy. She has been active in several community programs, such as, coaching school teams and volunteering at church events. Her experiences as an Early Childhood Daycare teacher has provided her with a variety of teaching opportunities from the ages of 18 months to 12 years old. She currently is dedicated to completing her Master’s Degree while gaining every teaching experiences possible. Amanda has participated in several professional development workshops, including: Classroom Management for Occasional Teachers, Technology in the Modern Classroom, Working Towards LGBTQI2S Safer and Inclusive Schools, and Learning with Assistive Devices and Computer Based Programs for Literacy. Amanda enjoys working one on one with students to provide a positive learning experience and to tailor the needs of the specific student to find academic success.

Amanda obtained her bachelor’s degree in Biomedical and Electrical Engineering from Carleton University. She has been tutoring students in STEM (science, technology, engineering, and math) subjects for several years for students between Grades 6 and 12. She has also volunteered for Girls Learning Code, a summer camp program geared towards introducing coding to young children. She has also worked with teachers within the Toronto District School Board to help along with the coding curriculum. In her spare time, she likes to hike, train in kick boxing and gymnastics, read, and travel.

Amelie completed a Bachelor of English education, then taught for eight years at the high school level, during which time she completed a Master’s of Education in curriculum studies at Acadia University in Nova Scotia.

She has qualifications for intermediate and senior divisions teaching ESL and Maths, as well as additional qualifications for primary and junior education.

She has taught English literacy (OLC4O) at Bronte College in Mississauga, as well as Grade 11 Functions (MCR3U) and Grade 10 Math (MPM2D) at Fieldstone King’s College in Toronto.

Anamika’s love for STEM learning began as a young girl, where she turned her family bathroom into her laboratory and would do “experiments” in the sink with soaps and shampoo galore. Currently, Anamika is a Master of Science Candidate with the Biology department at York University. She graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honors Bachelor of Science, double-majoring in Human Biology and Psychology. She is qualified to teach all levels for science, and Grades 1 through 10for math.

Anamika has previously worked with children ages 5+ in her role as a summer camp counselor, peer mentor, and has valuable skills obtained through her various volunteer positions, and research positions. Her interest in teaching has been further enriched through her role as a teaching assistant for introductory and advanced university-level biology courses.

Her desire to engage students from different educational and neurodiverse backgrounds follows her into the classroom. Anamika believes in tailoring the learning experience of her students to their interests and utilizing various methods to convey information to help her students develop learning strategies and resilience in the classroom. Anamika is always looking to be a better teacher, collecting certifications and attending workshops to engage students in an online classroom, develop learning skills, course design, etc.

Originally from Boston, Anamika has made Toronto her home for the past 6 years. In her free time, she loves to bake, watch movies, do yoga and hang out with her dog Gervais!

Andrea is a teacher for the Toronto District School Board. In her last five years with the board, she has specialized in teaching French, as well as Language. She has special qualifications courses in French as well as English as Second Language. Andrea has a Bachelor of Education from the University of Toronto. She attended the University of Ottawa for her undergraduate degree, where she minored in French as a Second Language.

Angie is a teacher and musician living in Toronto. For the majority of her career, Angie has worked with students that have special needs, in particular, those with Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Disorder, and Behaviour-based disorders.
Until recently, Angie taught grades 3-5, and vocal music K-8 in a small private school. Currently, Angie is an Occasional Teacher with the Toronto District School Board, and like a superhero, she goes where she is needed the most. In her spare time, Angie likes to play music, watch sports, hike, and contribute to her blog.

Anita completed her bachelor of education for primary and junior division at Canisius College located in Buffalo in 2006. She then continued on to obtain her master in 2009. Growing up in Cape Breton Nova Scotia, she attended Saint Mary’s University, having achieved her Bachelor of Commerce with a major in accounting and minor in economics. Her passion for learning guided her to become an educator. Moreover, Anita has experience teaching as an elementary school teaching for the past twelve years. She has taught kindergarten through grade six. Her love of teaching is demonstrated within her captivating classroom, always keeping her students minds engaged. Being a firm believer of creating a one on one relationship with each of her students, adhering to their uniqueness and learning styles. Wether it is math, language or social science, Anita strives to deliver rich and enjoyable lessons to her class. Her other areas of interest include practicing yoga and mindfulness. Completing both her yoga teacher training program in 2017 and qualified to teach meditation and mindful living. Incorporating these interest into her teaching styles enables children to self regulate and express themselves.

Ann is a québécoise having grown up in her home town of Trois-Rivières, Quebec. She attended CECEP in Lennoxville, Quebec and completed her Bachelor of Fine Arts at Concordia University. Hosting a variety of international students and teaching them to speak English, has given Ann an insightful intuition on language learning . Ann understands that language learning is multi-faceted and having an arts and language background, allows her to incorporate real life situations and relevant interests as part of the students’ learning. Ann speaks English, French, Chinese, and currently learning American Sign Language. She is a full time senior French and homeroom teacher in the Toronto District School Board teaching French and subjects such as History, Geography, Dance, Drama, Language Arts. In 2015, Ann received her French specialist qualifications from York U.

Anna is currently studying in the Master of Teaching program at the University of Toronto. She attended McMaster University for her undergraduate degree, where she received an Honours Bsc with distinction, majoring in Biology and minoring in Psychology.

Her teaching qualifications include Junior and Intermediate divisions (grades 4-10), with a teachable in Science. She is comfortable teaching students of all ages and plans on receiving additional qualifications in the Primary division as well as high school Math and Biology.

Anna has significant experience working with children, including as a camp counsellor, youth group leader, and classroom volunteer. She enjoys helping students become engaged in what they are learning, and tailors her teaching to the needs of each student. Outside of teaching Anna enjoys reading, ballet, and spending time outdoors.

Anneliis has been a student of languages her entire life. From Kindergarten to the end of high school, she studied in a French Immersion program in Toronto. That same love of languages eventually led Anneliis to complete an Honours Bachelor of Arts at the University of Ottawa in 2014, graduating with a major in English and a minor in Communications. In 2018, she completed her Bachelor of Education at the University of Western Ontario. Presently, Anneliis has successfully completed part one of the Additional Qualifications (AQ) for Special Education and French as a Second Language.

Anneliis’ love of languages has been prevalent in many aspects of her teaching, employment and extra-curricular activities. Before completing her Bachelor of Education, Anneliis worked as the Assistant to the Ambassador at the Embassy of the Republic of Estonian in Ottawa. She flourished working in an environment surrounded by the culture and language of her heritage.

Anneliis has continuously sought opportunities to learn and teach in many different environments. In the spring of 2017, she travelled to the small town of Trois-Pistoles in Québec for an intensive 5-week French language program in which she could develop her French language learning. In the winter of 2017, she travelled to Frankfurt, Germany for a student-teaching placement in a German-English bilingual private school.

Anneliis is passionate about helping students realize their full potential and helping them through the difficulties that can arise when learning, especially learning in another language. She understands first-hand that different tools and methods are required to help all students learn in a manner that is best-suited to them. She integrates different technologies and media, such as Google applications, interactive Whiteboards, songs, TV segments, and Apple products into her lessons to reach the learning needs of her students. However, she still believes that sometimes the best tools are the traditional ones: pencil, paper, and hands.

Presently, Anneliis has begun the AQ coursework for Mathematics, Primary & Junior Part 1. Anneliis hopes to one day complete her Masters in Education, specializing in Education Administration and Policy. Her interests for future educational development lie in cross-cultural and cross-curricular education and curriculum development.

Ashley graduated with Honours from Ryerson University with her degree in Early Childhood Development. She is currently studying at the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education for her Masters of Teaching, specializing in Primary/ Junior. Ashley has a longing passion to explore and expand the minds of students, through integrative and multimodal methods that is individualized to each student’s needs. She feels that students need to have a positive platform to know they are capable of anything they put their mind to. A quote that guides her teaching is by the brilliant Dr. Seuss, “a person’s a person, no matter how small.” Ashley feels everyone learns at their own pace and in different ways, that is why it is key to find different methods of teaching the same topic. Ashley has had exposure teaching diverse students and working alongside families to better support their children’s needs with education and behavioural assistance. Ashley is a believer that teaching requires patience, understanding, compassion and enthusiasm- all aspects that she will be providing her students on a daily basis.

Ayesha is an enthusiastic second year Systems Design Engineering and Physics student at the University of Waterloo with 5+ years of experience in teaching math and physics to students from Grades 1-12 with various learning abilities. As a tutor, Ayesha believes that any student can achieve academic success when provided with the proper materials and support that is catered towards their learning style.

Ben is currently finishing his last year of a degree in computer engineering at Queen’s University. He is well versed in mathematics, computer programing, and the sciences. Having studied and worked with high-level calculus, he is well positioned to teach at the high-school level.

Projects include the implementation of machine-learning algorithms in data analytics, video-game development, and web design. Ben has advanced computer-programming skills and excellent working knowledge of mathematical algorithms. A few of the languages he is proficient in are (but not limited to): Java, Python, C, C++, SQL, and HTML/CSS.

Regular teamwork has shown Ben a myriad of different learning approaches. He has seen that each person learns differently, and that material must be delivered in a way that is intuitive for every individual.

With experience as a badminton assistant coach and camp counselor, Ben is skilled at instructing children of all ages. He recognizes that engaging students’ interest is essential to their absorption of the subject matter, whether sports or science. Ben’s goal for each student is that they take pride in their ability to learn and the resulting confidence.

Bianca has over 15 years of experience in education in both Toronto and internationally. She spent 7 years in the Middle East at international schools in various roles of teaching and leadership. Bianca has a Master in Educational Leadership and is presently working on completing her Doctorate. Her thesis is focused on equitable leadership.

Bianca began her career as an Early Childhood Educator (ECE) to develop a deep understanding on how the minds of children work. She is consistently upgrading her education and experiences to remain current in her professional practice. Bianca believes that education is the foundation of society and understands her role in shaping the future through the education of students.

Bilal received his undergraduate degree at McMaster University, graduating with an Honours in Chemical Biology. He undertook a co-operative aspect to his academics, and worked as an undergraduate researcher in universities and institutes in Vancouver, Hamilton and Berlin. His love for discovery, learning and sharing sparked his passion for travel, and he has spent years exploring diverse cultures and places. He recently returned from travelling around Europe, participating in many projects, including to help repair a traditional engine-less tall ship and sail across the Atlantic Ocean.

Bilal’s diverse experiences have helped accustom him to be comfortable with people of all ages and life stories, which ties deeply into his passion for learning and sharing. He has tutored students of all ages, including his own sisters and brother, and focuses on shaping their understanding rather than memorization. His main expertise lies in teaching senior Math and Science, however his interests are as far reaching as Anthropology and History, and learnt to speak French and Spanish during his recent travels.

His experience teaching up to eighteen Chemistry undergraduate students at a time in the lab, combined with numerous years of teaching students one-on-one in middle school and high school in Math and Science, have allowed him to develop the focus, rapport and creative techniques to make any student feel comfortable and open up to learning. His interest in education lies not in forcing students to do study because they feel they have to, but rather to help them rekindle their curiosity so they want to learn, explore and share.

Boston was a Concurrent Teacher Education student at the University of Toronto, where she received her Bachelor of Science degree in Psychology, with a self-focus on child development. She has completed her Bachelor of Education at OISE, where she specializes in the Primary/Junior level. As a Concurrent Education student, Boston has considerable experience with a variety of students of different needs, backgrounds, ages, aptitudes and interests, and takes pride in creating lessons and activities that help each individual child achieve success in a way conducive to their learning style. Boston is passionate about literacy in schools. She loves to and has a background in helping students learn to and improve reading skills. She has her Special Education Part 1 and Kindergarten Part 1 through Queens University. She has completed SSAT training and is qualified to help students prepare for private school entry tests. Boston has a deep knowledge of literature and chose to become a teacher to help inspire a similar enthusiasm in children of all ages and interests.

Brandon received his Master’s Degree in Computational Physics at the University of Toronto in September of 2021 at the age of 22 and is currently interested in teaching and software development as future career paths.

As a Physics TA at the University of Toronto for over 3 years he has a strong understanding of the necessary skills high school students must develop in order to succeed in any of the STEM-based university programs. Not only was he a TA for Physics but he was also a part of the Physics club and Physics study groups. You could say he pretty much loves Physics.

His teaching experience began in 2016 as a swim and CPR instructor for the City of Toronto. He has since shifted away from aquatics and toward academics using the same style of teaching to suit both verbal and visual based learners. He hopes to curve the reputation of Physics and Math dependent topics as to not include ‘Difficult’, ‘Impossible’ or even ‘Nightmare’ as descriptors by making learning interesting and fun.

In addition to his interest in Physics he also has a passion for music (especially stringed instruments). He played lead electric guitar as part of his high school Motown band for 2 years and was an executive coordinator for the UTM Guitar Club.

Brendan graduated from the University of Brock with a Bachelors degree in Kinesiology. Brendan then completed his Bachelor of Education from the University of Western Ontario. He began his teaching career in London, United Kingdom teaching physical education at the secondary school level. Upon returning to Canada, Brendan has taught Language, Math and Social Studies at the Intermediate Level. Brendan possesses a wide range of additional qualifications which include Intermediate/Senior General Science, Senior Biology, and grade 7-8 Math. He also has a qualification in Special Education and has spent time working for the Ontario School Board as a Special Education Resource Teacher. He has direct experience working with IEPs and modifying the Ontario curriculum to fit the needs of the individual student. Brendan is passionate about individualized learning and helping students reach their full potential. Outside of the classroom Brendan enjoys baseball, f itness and reading. He has represented Ireland at the European Baseball Championships and continues to compete internationally for the Irish National Baseball team.

My name is Brittany Melo and I am a Junior/Intermediate teacher, with plenty of experience tutoring, home-schooling, supply teaching and teaching dance programs throughout the City of Toronto, and surrounding areas of the city.

I am passionate about differentiated instruction, and teaching to fit the specific learning needs of a child, as effective teaching cannot be “one-size-fits-all”. I am a University of Toronto graduate, who specialized in Equity and Diversity Studies as well as Transnational and Diaspora Studies throughout my undergraduate years. I am an empathetic and motivated teacher, with experience educating students from diverse areas of the city. I am currently a Masters of Teaching student at the University of Toronto, with a thesis specialization in equity in the classroom. I will be graduating in the Spring of 2017!

Callista holds an Honours BA in French Studies and is currently a Teacher Candidate, pursuing a Bachelor of Education at Glendon College, York University. Her lifelong goal of becoming a teacher has been strengthened by over 8 years of experience, working and volunteering with children in diverse teaching environments. Callista has always had a passion for mentoring and guiding youth. She understands that every student is unique and is dedicated to creating and adapting plans for individual success. Having attended a French Immersion elementary school and high school, Callista understands the importance of being bilingual in Canada. She believes that understanding and speaking another language enriches one’s life by learning about diverse cultures and respecting the diversity of global societies. Her passion for the French language is the reason she chose French Studies as her university major and chose to attend a bilingual university campus. Callista’s main goal is to instill a love of learning within each student by creating a conducive learning environment that promotes inclusivity and positivity. Callista is committed to motivating each student to achieve their personal goals and reach their full potential.

I graduated from the University of Toronto with an Honours Bachelor of Science in Mathematics. I am currently doing my Master of Teaching at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, to be certified at the intermediate/ senior level with teachables in Mathematics and Social Science. My favourite subject growing up was always math, and I strive to pass my enthusiasm on to my students and help them succeed. I believe each student deserves individualized instruction to meet their specific needs, and I have learned in the past few years how to cater to a wide variety of learning styles.

Casey has a Bachelor of Social Work, Bachelor of Education, Master of Arts in Critical Disability Studies and a Developmental Services Worker diploma. She has also taken additional qualification courses as part of her professional development as a teacher in Special Education, Teaching Students with Autism and Learning Disabilities, English as a Second Language, Mathematics (Primary/Junior), Kindergarten, Physical Education and Literacy. She currently works as an Occasional Teacher with both the Peel District School Board and Halton District School Board. In addition to teaching in Ontario, Casey spent some time teaching and living in London, England.

Casey has been working in the field of Special Education and Developmental Services for over 10 years. She has worked and volunteered in group homes, day programs, segregated classrooms, hospitals, long-term care facilities and camps for individuals with developmental disabilities. Some of the organizations she has been a part of include the Hospital for Sick Children, Geneva Centre for Autism and Autism Ontario. She is extremely passionate about teaching learners of all abilities. She believes that everyone has the ability to succeed when given the proper support and resources. She looks forward to working and learning with the students of Prep Academy.

Outside of teaching, Casey is an avid traveller. She has travelled within North America, Europe, Africa and Asia. You can also find her playing soccer and running long distances. She has been playing soccer since she was five years old and enjoys running in a variety of half and full marathons. Her greatest form of self-care involves being around animals. She loves all animals (and has a pet cat at home).

Casey has been a teacher for the Halton district school board for 3 years. She has many years experience tutoring, both in group settings and one on one. She is French qualified. She is a graduate from Brock University with a Bachelor of Arts and a graduate from Nipissing University with a bachelor of education. She is an energetic teacher who makes learning engaging, fun and meaningful to all her students.

My name is Cassie and I am a Junior/Intermediate/Senior certified teacher with the Ontario College of Teachers. I am currently an Occasional Teacher with the Toronto District School Board and Durham District School Board.

I completed my Bachelor of Music at Queen’s University, specializing in Education. I then completed my Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University specializing in Music and Outdoor and Experiential Learning. From there I went on to complete and my Master of Education at the University of Toronto, specializing in Developmental Psychology and Education with a special interest in mental health in the classroom. My interest in the field of mental health in the classroom has led me into the area of academic coaching. I enjoy working with students on time management, organization of school materials, proper note taking skills and overall mindfulness in an academic setting.

In addition, I have had several opportunities to work with children outside of the classroom. I worked as a camp counsellor, coordinator, and director for the University of Toronto, the YMCA of Simcoe/Muskoka, and the Kids Cancer Foundation of Alberta.

Oustide of teaching, I love reading, horseback riding, playing recreational softball, travelling, photography, being outdoors, and spending time with my family.

Catrina is a York and Niagara University alumni. In June 2015, she graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Liberal Arts & Professional Studies with a specialization in Gender and Women’s Studies. From there, she went on to complete her Bachelor of Professional Studies with a specialization in Primary/Junior Education with Niagara University, having graduated in June of 2017. Catrina now works for multiple school boards as an occasional OCT Certified Teacher including the Toronto District School Board, the York Region District School Board, the Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board, and most recently, the Peel District School Board. Prior to working with school boards, Catrina worked with different private schools. Catrina has volunteered with summer camps and youth groups, and has had multiple placement experiences with various school boards in the GTA, including the Toronto Catholic District School Board, the Dufferin-Peel Catholic District School Board, and the York Catholic District School Board. In addition to this, Catrina has been trained in direct instruction and has experience in working with students with exceptionalities including children with autism, students with ADHD, and students who are on Individual Education Plans. Catrina is qualified to tutor students in all areas of learning from kindergarten up to the grade 6 level.

Charlene received her Early Childhood Education diploma from Sheridan College in 2012. With her ongoing passion for teaching she continued her education at York University where she achieved her Bachelor of Arts specializing in Children’s Studies. She currently attends Niagara University where she is working towards her Bachelor of Education specializing in primary/junior.

Charlene previously worked as a Montessori teacher for 3 years. During this time she was responsible for leading an after school program which extended the hours of the curriculum and provided a leadership opportunity. She was also able to work one on one with students to complete teacher assigned homework.

Charlene’s passion for teaching brought her to Africa, where she was given a rare opportunity to teach within a school for 5 weeks. During this time she focused on working with students in grades 4-8. Charlene is responsible for beginning the homework initiative. This initiative was started when she noticed that homework was not being completed and many students were falling behind. The homework initiative gives students responsibility and ownership.
When Charlene is not working she is at home spending time with her 2 dogs (Cancu and Rocko) or she is re-watching her favourite Disney movies.

Charles Ziegler is a graduate student at OISE in Language and Literacies Education. After graduating from the University of Guelph with a degree in English literature, Charles taught middle school ESL classes in Gwanggyo, South Korea specializing in TOEFL preparatory reading and writing. Charles enjoys reading, writing literature reviews, and playing jazz piano.

Charlotte is a West-End Toronto native, who studied French in the TDSB through the French Immersion program from kindergarten to OAC, earning her a bilingual certificate. She continues to live in Etobicoke with her two young sons, who are both enrolled in the French Immersion program as well. Charlotte has many years of experience working with children from ages 0-12 in various capacities that range from Nursery Coordinator, Sunday school teacher and community program leader at her church, to volunteering in west-end schools offering mentorship homework clubs and running literacy programs. Charlotte also has a BA in Kinesiology and a certificate in Athletic Therapy and has worked with athletes of varying ages and skill levels for over a decade. She enjoys anything and everything to do with Fitness and Health, and loves to find ways to incorporate those subjects into all aspects of her life. Recently, Charlotte graduated from the B.Ed program at Tyndale University in Toronto, where she had the opportunity of working with and teaching some grade 2, 3 and 6 classes in TDSB during her three practicum placements. Charlotte’s favourite subjects to teach are math, science and language. She is enthusiastic, organized and dedicated to education, and is very excited to continue her education adventures through Prep Academy Tutoring!

Chris has a varied subject background, having graduated from University of Toronto with a double major in Life Science and Anthropology. After working a year as a professional tutor, Chris completed his Bachelor of Education at OISE with teachable subjects in Biology and Social Sciences. He went on to teach Grade 9 English, Math, Science and other subjects in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut. He is now enrolled in Osgoode Hall Law School, working towards a joint law degree and Master of Environmental Studies and maintaining his love of education through his tutoring with Prep Academy.

Christi has a lifelong love of learning, and enjoys instilling that same love of learning in the students that she supports. She received a Bachelor of Political Science and a Bachelor of English from McMaster University. It was working at day camp programs in university that Christi discovered her passion for teaching and supporting learners with special needs. She earned her Bachelor of Education from OISE at the University of Toronto, with qualifications in the primary, junior, intermediate, and senior English divisions. Additionally, she holds a Specialist Qualification in Special Education. Christi is TRIBES certified, and trained in the Handwriting Without Tears method. She has incorporated the Oelwein Approach to Reading when working with students with developmental delays when focusing on attaining early literacy skills.

Christi is an experienced educator that has taught from primary grades to high school College Level English for adult continuing education learners. She has worked with students in the mainstream class setting from Junior Kindergarten to 21 years of age, in addition to a contained developmental disabilities class program. Christi has had extensive experience working with learners with Autism, developmental delays, Acquired Brain Injuries, behavioural concerns, and multiple learning exceptionalities. She has also taught remedial literacy and numeracy to students in grades 6 to 8. Furthermore, Christi has tutored students in a one-to-one setting for many years.

Christi’s solid background in supporting struggling learners, her extensive knowledge of IEPs and IEP development, her ability to build a rapport and connect to students, and her commitment to students and student learning makes her well suited to supporting the unique learning needs of all her students. She believes that it is vital that both educators and parents must collaborate together to ensure the success of the child. Additionally, Christi feels that it is important to constantly set goals and reflect upon these goals with both parent and child. She incorporate students’ interests along with their strengths and needs when planning activities and lessons.

When not supporting students with their educational goals, Christi is a pop culture enthusiast who enjoys reading, yoga, high intensity interval training, crafting, and challenging herself through new activities.

Christina has graduated from George Brown College as a certified Early Childhood Educator. She then went to complete her Bachelor’s degree in sociology at York University. Christina has worked as an Early Childhood Educator with the Toronto Catholic school board. While working as an Early Childhood educator she then pursued her Bachelor of Education degree at Niagara university and is now a Certified teacher in Ontario. She primarily works in the primary/junior division. Christina has the following additional teaching qualifications in Kindergarten (Part 1, 2 and 3) She also has a variety of experience teaching students (in person and online). Christina’s hobbies and interests include spending time with family and friends (especially with her 3 nephews!) baking and spending time outdoors.

Christina graduated in April of 2020 from McGill University with a degree in Political Science and Sociology. Her interests in school also extended to Gender Studies and Communications. In September of 2021 Christina will begin a Master’s Program focusing on International Economics and Policy. While at McGill, Christina tutored on behalf of the Sociology department, preparing students for upcoming exams and assignments. As well, Christina volunteered at the essay writing center, where she edited and assisted students with papers.

Christina’s passionate about literacy and believes that skills in reading and writing are fundamental to success in any subject. She has worked extensively with students with developmental and processing problems, working to help the students overcome difficulties and obstacles. She is trained in SAT and SSAT prep and has experience teaching and preparing students to successfully write the exam.
She has worked with children in different capacities, ranging from camp counsellor, swimming instructor, and tutoring. Christina believes being patient and firm while encouraging students is paramount to achieving goals.
Christina believes in developing and fostering relationships with each student in order to create a comfortable environment that allows the students to flourish and learn. She is a firm advocate for different learning styles and tries to incorporate a variety of techniques that deviate from standardized education, as she considers each student’s learning style to be unique and accommodable.
In her spare time, Christina volunteers as a peer support worker at a rehab center for addicts. She is fluent in Italian, enjoys reading, traveling, watching and playing sports, and spending time with family and friends.

Christina is an elementary school teacher, currently at home on maternity leave. She is a homeroom teacher, certified to teach Grades 1-12, and has a passion for teaching math. She loves connecting with students, getting them excited about learning, and watching their skills and confidence grow! She has taken several courses upon graduation, including four Additional Qualification courses.

Christine successfully completed her undergraduate studies in Psychology and Biology at The University of Western Ontario. She went overseas to South Korea for one year to help students from kindergarten to grade 4 explore the English language in creative and engaging ways. In that year, Christine’s passion for teaching grew exponentially so she went back to Canada to complete Teachers College at OISE. It is where she graduated with distinction as a junior-intermediate teacher with a teachable in general science. Her extensive experiences in working with children with different needs at various grade levels allows her to provide effective learning for all different types of learners. Although her speciality is in sciences, her research work with child developmental psychology researchers and teaching experiences in literacy and mathematics makes her an outstanding tutor for all of these subject areas. She is a warm and compassionate teach er who holds a firm commitment to success of all students.

Christine J. Loh, PMP, ISTQB certified and is a Manager of Data Science at a tech start-up. A former national mathematics contest competitor from Toronto, Ontario, she earned her bachelors from the University of Toronto. Her students come from a diverse background and needs (AP/IB/remedial/SAT/SSAT/PSAT/GMAT/competitions ie. Caribou, Canadian Math League, Waterloo contests, Kangaroo, Beaver etc) She collaborates with parents, tutoring companies, consultants, and organizations to promote mathematics excellence and equity for young people. Her students have gained interviews to the University of Toronto Schools, scored in the top 2-15% of admission tests, top 7-30% of worldwide/national math contests. top 7% in Ontario, and top 10% in Peel District School Board. Christine has been recognized as the Tutor of the Month, for her efforts. She has also published an article in “Authority Magazine” entitled “5 Things You Need To Know To Be A Highly Effective Educator”. In her free time, she enjoys hiking, chess, travelling, and playing the violin.

Chris was a Concurrent Teacher Education student at the University of Toronto, where he achieved his Bachelor of Arts in French. He has finished his Bachelor of Education at OISE, where his teachables are French and History at the Intermediate/Senior levels. After graduating, Christopher completed SSAT training in order to help students properly prepare for private school entry test. Chris’ teaching philosophy centres around bringing outside resources into the classroom, helping students to connect with course material and learn through true desire and interest in the subject matter. Chris is passionate about sports, playing both hockey and golf, and follows baseball closely. He is also a self-taught trivia buff, specializing in both world and sports history. Chris enjoys travel, playing sports and photography in his spare time.

Claire is enrolled at Brock University for Concurrent Education. She is an Ontario Certified Teacher qualified to teach students in Primary and Junior (K-6). She has attained a Bachelor of Arts (Honors) with a focus of Child and Youth Studies and attaining a Bachelor of Education. She has 9 years of teaching experience and has completed teaching placements in the DPCDSB and DSBN boards. Claire has taught all grades K-6, has been a supply teacher and has worked as an educational resource worker. She has also taught private to large class skating lessons administrated by the city to students as young as 4 to adults.

Claire has been recognized in honour for her leadership abilities including the Michael Tambureno Memorial Award, Ted Rogers Scholarship, and Principal Award.

Claire is a compassionate and kind educator as she fosters an inclusive and welcoming environment to all students. Her mission is to make learning as fun as possible! Reflecting students interests and accommodating various learning styles is part of her teaching style. She recognizes that students need to feel safe and comfortable to reach their full potential both academically and personally. She is dedicated to ensuring that students are given opportunities to ask lots of questions, share their curiosities, and explore during their learning. Claire enjoys hiking, snowboarding, hockey, tennis, and playing instruments, piano and guitar.

Growing up as the neighbourhood babysitter, I always loved kids and wanted to be a teacher. I followed my passion and completed a degree in Child and Youth Care at Ryerson University. I then went on to Brock University where I completed my Bachelors of Education. Now I have experience as an occasional teacher with the Peel District School Board, and am a member in good standing with the Ontario College of Teacher.
I believe I can make a valuable contribution as a Prep Academy Tutor, given my strong commitment to ongoing professional learning, my teaching experience, and the Additional Qualifications I have achieved which include Special Education pt.1 and Reading pt 1.

Clarissa received her Honours Bachelor of Science in Psychology from the University of Toronto. She went on to complete her Bachelor of Education at the Ontario Institute of Studies in Education in 2015, specializing in the primary/ junior education. Clarissa has had extensive classroom experience in grade 2 through 5. Clarissa has worked in special education classrooms, English language learner classrooms and in a specialized school working with students with severe physical and development challenges.
Clarissa has overcome her own academic challenges, being identified in grade school with a Learning Disability in auditory processing. Her personal achievements and accomplishments are a result of perseverance and endless support and encouragement from teachers and family. Clarissa knows first hand about the emotional and academic struggles students face at school. She knows that there are endless possibilities when a student and everyone working with a given student create a positive and encouraging learning environment.
Clarissa was a member of a highly competitive dance studio. Her dance training allowed her to develop self-disciple while also giving her a positive release and creative expression. Clarissa enjoys acting and drama, and continues to take dance classes whenever possible.
Clarissa is a caring and compassionate educator that encourages each student to reach their full potential.

Claudia is an Ontario Certified Teacher who has completed her Bachelor of Arts, as a psychology major and Bachelor of Education at York University at the primary/junior level. Claudia is dedicated to professional development and has completed Additional Qualification courses in Special Education Part 1, English as a Second Language Part 1, Reading Part 1 and senior qualifications in Social Science. She has taught abroad for several years teaching English literacy, Mathematics and Science to English language learners in Kindergarten, grade 2, 3, and 4. She has also taught leveled English language courses to secondary and adult students to prepare them for the TOEFL and IELTS for university entrance. She is also trained in SSAT preparation at the Elementary and Middle level.

She has tutored students of all ages with an emphasis on early literacy development and remedial assistance for struggling students and for students with exceptionalities. Working abroad with English language learners and students with special needs for several years makes her a very flexible and patient teacher who recognizes the importance of creating individualized lessons with specific goals that are based on a thorough assessment of strengths and weaknesses while building self-confidence for students to reach their full potential and succeed academically.

In her spare time, Claudia loves to stay active by playing tennis, softball and football.

Claudia is a Registered Early Childhood Educator in Ontario where she graduated from Conestoga College in 2018 Kitchener campus. As such, she has 5+ years experience working as an RECE in various classrooms and age groups. Claudia is currently a team lead/ supervisor of a centre in Oakville, and is very excited to be a mentor for the educators within the centre. Additionally, she has studied psychology at the university of Guelph from 2012- 2016 and has received a Yoga and Mindfulness

Colette is an Ontario College of Teachers certified teacher working with the Toronto District School Board for over 16 years. During teacher’s college in Australia she had the opportunity to spend time with family and travel to Beijing to teach English to high school students. She has taught in both Primary and Junior divisions, Special Education programs, Vocal Music, as well as Librarianship. She is dedicated to finding each child’s path to literacy through direct instruction, movement, poetry, and song. In her spare time, Colette enjoys live music, swimming, dog walking, yoga, and sushi with her family.

Dana attained her Hons BA at York University. She studied English and History. In 1993 she received her B. Ed. She studied in Newmarket at York’s satelite campus just off main street in a historic building! She is qualified in Primary Junior education. With a focus on literacy, numeracy and cooperative education. At U of T she attained Senior division English as an AQ course and this lead to many occasional teaching placements in secondary schools in York Region. Her AQ courses in Spec Ed informed her teaching strategies within the classroom. She is an empathetic individual who meets learners where they are. She finds it rewarding to make a difference in children’s develipment.

Dana is currently studying at York University and will be graduating in 2018 with a Bachelor of Education with a specialization in Primary/Junior. She has had experience specifically in Kindergarten as well as Grade 1 and 2 classrooms. She believes that every child is a unique individual with different learning styles that should be respected and fostered.

Dana has also received her undergraduate degree in International Development Studies at University of King’s College in Halifax in 2012. She has also taken classes in her undergraduate program in English, History and Philosophy. Following this, she took an interest in Culinary Arts and received her diploma in Culinary Management at George Brown College in 2014. Dana worked in a bakery for 2 years and while she no longer works in baking, she still has a passion for cooking and baking in her spare time. She also enjoys reading, the outdoors and exploring different cultures when travelling.

Daniel graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University with a Bachelor of Arts Honours Geography with a minor in Psychology. Daniel achieved his Bachelor of Education at the University of Ottawa where he participated in the Developing a Global Perspective for Educators Cohort at the Junior and Intermediate levels. He continued his professional development completing a Special Education and Health and Physical Education Additional Qualifications at the Primary and Junior level. In addition, he completed a Social Sciences ABQ at the Senior level. Daniel has spent time in the classroom as an occasional physical education teacher in a Montessori school. He also has experience as an outdoor educator at High Park working as an Eco-Camp Instructor as well as working in the Children’s Garden and Teaching Kitchen. Daniel has taught in a diverse school during his time at practicum teaching math, language arts, science, as well as visual arts from grades 4 to 8.

Daniel has a deep passion for baseball and sports. He brings his love for the game and team dynamic atmosphere into his teaching pedagogy as a way to work together to achieve success. Daniel continues to be an active member of his community coaching volleyball, soccer, and ball hockey to students with a wide range of socioeconomic backgrounds.

Daniela received her undergraduate degree from the University of Toronto and from there went on the complete her Bachelor of Education specializing in the primary/junior grades. She has received countless hours of teaching and volunteer experience in various school communities throughout her education. Daniela has come to be respected as a professional by her professors, associate teachers, and staff in the schools she has taught in. Her experience with teaching also extends to her work outside of schools. In the summer of 2014 she was offered the position of senior instructor for the art camp at Camp U of T. She delivered an organized, enriching, inclusive, and exciting art camp for 3 different age groups for the summer. Working closely with students of many different age groups and seeing their success has solidified her confidence in her teaching abilities. She wishes to further extend her teaching experience through joining Prep Academy Tutors, and looks forward to meeting some amazing new students.

Danielle recently completed a Bachelors of Education degree at Brock University. She has a background in Geography and is certified by the Ontario College of Teachers. Danielle has vast experience working with student’s with exceptionalities and is adept in meeting the diverse learning needs of her students. Danielle obtained an Honours Bachelors of Arts degree at York University majoring in Sociology and minoring in Geography.

Danielle has the ability to develop authentic and meaningful relationships with her students, allowing them to develop contextualized and meaningful learning experiences. Danielle is a former York Region District School Board, Tutor in the Classroom where she worked with students from Grade 1 to 6 in the areas of English, Social Studies, Mathematics and History. Her high energy, enthusiastic passion for teaching promotes positive work habits and valid learning experiences for her students.

Danielle is a graduate of the concurrent education program from University of Toronto/Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. With an Honours Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education as well as an additional qualification, Danielle is an Ontario Certified Teacher who is qualified to teach Mathematics and English in the Junior, Intermediate, and Senior divisions. She also currently teaches dance and has completed her eighth year as a summer camp leader at her local community centre for children ages 3-16.

Danielle values the connection between her and her students as it allows her to motivate the students through personal connections. It also allows her to differentiate and adapt to the individual needs of each student, encouraging them to grow in their learning.

Let me start with three fun facts about myself: I’ve traveled to 22 countries, I work in the film & tv industry as an actress, and I love the month of October because it’s my birthday and it’s Halloween which gives me a perfect excuse to dress up and scare people.

Now as per my education in 2011, I received my Bachelor of Arts Degree in Kinesiology from the University of Western Ontario. I’ve always been an active individual, love sports and living an active lifestyle. From there, I went on to complete two years at the Canadian Memorial Chiropractic College. During that time, I realized my true passion was in teaching, and as such, I left graduate school to pursue the prospect of my masters in education at Medaille College in Buffalo, New York. I am also a graduate of École Monseigneur-Bruyère in London Ontario; as a result of this and other experiences, I am fluent in English, French, and Spanish. These experiences combined have given me a rich knowledge base in the sciences, maths, and languages.

You will find me to be approachable, creative, a strong communicator, and dedicated to my students. I am confident that students will enjoy working with and learning from me.

Deanna received her undergraduate degree at the University of Western Ontario in 2011 with a double major in English and History, followed by a Bachelor of Education at Nipissing University specializing in Primary, Junior and Intermediate grade levels. Deanna’s diverse experiences working with students of all ages and backgrounds, as a dance instructor, classroom volunteer and international English teacher have framed her love of learning and passion to teach.

Following her B.Ed., Deanna worked as a classroom tutor in a K-6 primary level school and went on to teach in multiple classrooms from Kindergarten through Grade 10 as an occasional teacher from 2012-2015. She has worked one-on-one with many learners who had behavioural and developmental learning exceptionalities and helped students gain confidence and positive results with reading and writing skills.

Professional development is a crucial aspect for Deanna’s learning base as she is TRIBES Certified and has completed additional qualifications in Special Education Part 1, Dance Part 1, and Senior English. Additionally, Deanna is an experienced SSAT coach, having guided dozens of students through this test taking process. Furthermore, Deanna is trained in the Direct Instruction method of teaching and has spent time within a school setting teaching students Reading Mastery and the Wilson Reading Program.

Deanna truly enjoys working one-on-one with students to foster collaborative and engaging learning and takes pride in promoting self-confidence and inspiring others to get excited about learning. She also has a love for fitness, theatre and the arts with 15 years of technical dance training.

Deborah is an Ontario Certified Teacher with a Specialist in Special Education. She has over 25 years’ experience teaching at the primary, junior and intermediate levels in both a regular classroom setting and a student support resource centre. With a focus on literacy and numeracy, Deborah has developed both remedial and enriched academic programs for students in kindergarten to grade 8.

As an integral member of an interdisciplinary team, Deborah’s area of focus and expertise for the past 10+ years has been to promote greater empathy and understanding in the area of children’s mental health. Deborah provides guidance to young learners and their families in navigating the education system and encourages positive communication and collaboration between families and schools.

As a university student, Deniz discovered a love for helping others with writing. He has been seeking opportunities for that collaborative process ever since, as his enjoyment of it inspired a career in education. After earning a Bachelor of Arts degree in English and certification to teach English As A Second Language, Deniz moved to Japan. It was there that he learned how to be comfortable and successful teaching all ages and skill levels, from children as young as 3 years old, to students at the middle school level and adults.

Motivated by a desire for more sophisticated curriculum and a wider range of students, Deniz returned to North America and earned a Master’s Degree in Education. During the practicum for his Master’s course, Deniz worked with Ontario Literacy Course students at a Brampton public school. He was grateful for that chance, as it helped him become a better, more versatile teacher by necessitating the use of flexible, customized, tailor-made curriculum to accommodate students who were gifted or had highly specialized needs.

After completing his Master’s program, Deniz worked in Turkey and received CELTA certification. He was delighted to find Turkish schools that allowed him to be creative with curriculum. He embraced the opportunity, enhancing classes with customized audiovisual material from such sources as television, film, and music. Following his time in Turkey, Deniz moved on to other European and Middle Eastern countries, continuing to utilize a variety of resources, making lessons as engaging as possible.

Between 2014 and 2016, Deniz worked as voluntary tutor in Etobicoke at one of his practicum schools. During this period, he took students out of their classrooms, working with them one-on-one or in small groups. This process taught him how to help students with special needs achieve their academic goals with patience, kindness, and empathy. Throughout his career, Deniz has been complimented by co-workers and mentors for building a healthy rapport with learners by sharing interests, offering consistent encouragement, and treating them with respect.

Some of Deniz’s proudest achievements have been praise received from students. They have called his lessons highlights of their days and said that they’ve been able to read, write, speak, and communicate with others better since working with him. One of Deniz’s favourite experiences in life is watching students find enthusiasm for their learning and pride in realizing their potential. He hopes to guide them towards those states for many years to come.

Deniz is an avid cyclist, student of film and television history, animal/nature lover, and music enthusiast. In his free time, he enjoys video editing and contributing to websites about his favourite subjects by writing or proofreading.

Devon is a tenured teacher with the Peel District School Board. In his seven years teaching experience he has worked with students in Kindergarten, primary, junior, and intermediate divisions. He has taught core programs in Language, Math, Science, History, Social Studies, Geography, Drama, Visual Art, and Health and Physical education. He also worked overseas in the Republic of Ireland teaching English as a foreign language to adult learners. His current teaching assignment is working as a special education teacher facilitating programs for students with exceptionalities.

Some of Devon’s professional qualifications include a Bachelor of Arts (English) from York University and a Bachelor of Education (Primary/Junior Divisions) from Trent University. In addition to his primary degree qualifications, he completed AQ courses in special education, health and physical education, senior English and a three-part writing specialist.

Devon is passionate about how students learn and how teachers enable students in meaningful ways. Additionally he strives to facilitate programming that is student centered by creating lessons and activities that are relevant to students.

Bonjour! My name is Diana and I am a French Immersion elementary school teacher in Toronto. My specialization is French, and I have completed French as a second language Part I, II, and III additional qualifications. At present I am completing my Master of Education on a part-time basis while teaching grade three. After obtaining his Bachelor of Science in Molecular Biology & Genetics, Donald spent time as a Cell Biology researcher at the University of Toronto. While at the U of T, Donald was a teaching assistant in first year Biology. He delivered seminars and ran practical labs for undergraduate students. After this, Donald spent a few years as a woodworker, teaching woodworking in the evenings at Humber College. At the same time, he was a youth leader in the United Church of Canada to young people in grades 7-10.

Currently at the University of Toronto studying towards his Master of Teaching, Donald has spent time during this program in several TDSB schools teaching Science to grades 9 and 10, and biology to senior students. Also at the University, Donald leads cycle fitness classes. He’s also an avid runner, swimmer, baker, fish owner, mystery novel reader, High Park pedestrian, musical theatre enthusiast, aspiring dog owner, and is always planning another camping trip. He’d be more than happy to chat at length about any of these things.

Donald has been teaching for 26 years, and continues to teach Grade 8 for the Toronto District School Board. Over his extensive career, he has encountered, and developed some fabulous resources that help students begin to thrive in both Literacy and Math.

Nothing is more rewarding to him than seeing a student he is working with grasp and master the concept being taught. He has learned how to utilize a blend of technology and other resources to help your child reach their goals and thrive.

Edgar is currently in his second year of Teacher’s College at York University and will graduate in June of 2018, where he will become an Ontario Certified Teacher at the Primary/Junior level. Edgar graduated from York University in June of 2016 with a Bachelor of Arts degree in Portuguese & Luso Brazilian Studies prior to starting his journey towards obtaining his Bachelors of Education degree. Edgar is in the application process of doing his Masters of Education degree focusing on Urban Educational Environments, as he is very interested in studying schools and children that embody these atmospheres. Subjects that Edgar takes most interest in are; Mathematics, Health, Physical Education, and Visual Arts. Edgar has two years of summer camp experience, where he has supervised and lead groups of children ranging from four to thirteen years of age. Edgar also has had multiple placement experiences in the Toronto Catholic District School Board, where he has worked in four different Elementary schools as a Teacher Candidate and a Tutor. In April Edgar will be going to Tanzania, Africa where he will teach for three weeks and gain an authentic, hands on experience of teaching in a third world country. In addition to teaching, Edgar remains active in the community by volunteering his time with St. Roch’s Catholic Church.

During his Undergraduate studies, Edgar was a member of the York University varsity soccer team for three years. In the three years as a member of the team, Edgar has won an OUA Bronze medal, an OUA gold medal, and a fourth place finish at the CIS National Championships. Edgar still plays soccer at the provincial level, but also finds himself coaching the youth. He has trained players from clubs such as North York FC, but also school soccer teams like; Chaminade College School and All Saints Catholic Elementary School. Edgar is a very active individual and has found a new passion for running. He completed his first marathon in October of 2017, and is now training towards completing an Ironman 70.3.

Edison Osorio is a certified teacher by the Ontario College of Teachers. He currently teaches a grade 7/8 split French Immersion class at Rockcliffe Middle School.

 Edison was born in Colombia in the mid 80’s. Before establishing himself self as an elementary school teacher in Toronto. He also had the chance to live in Florence, Italy, New York, and Montreal. As a result, he is now highly proficient in his native Spanish tongue as well in English and French. 

He holds a Master of Teaching degree from OISE since 2015, and completed his undergraduate studies at OCAD University in 2012. For the last five years, he has been teaching in the Toronto District School Board – grades 1-8. This includes all of the study subjects as well as ample experience in teaching Core French and French Immersion programs. 

During his studies at OISE, Edison had the chance to complete a practicum at The York School, which allowed him to gain experience teaching in a private school setting. His teaching experience also includes tutoring students in grades 4-12 and leading after-school programs.

 Edison is an avid cyclist, urban hiker and a big sports fan. He is also passionate about art, music and delicious food and, most of all, pastries.

Elise is a graduate of McGill University (B.Arts, 2013) and is currently in the process of finishing a Master of Teaching degree at OISE (University of Toronto), with a Junior/Intermediate specialization. Her research has focused on using speculative and science fiction (especially Afrofuturism and Indigenous speculative fiction genres) to deepen literacy engagement, and as tools for understanding history and other social studies subjects. She has been working with children and youth for more than 12 years in a wide variety of capacities, including being employed by a number of families as a private childcare provider, teaching at three liberal Jewish Sunday schools, and working at summer camps and in other children’s recreation programs.

Elise has successfully completed four practicum placements (three in TDSB schools, one at an IB-affiliated independent private school), including teaching science, math, social studies, English/language arts, and art in a Grade 4 class, and music to hundreds of students ranging in age from junior kindergarten through Grade 6. She has taught middle school history, geography, English/ language arts, math and health, all of which have granted her valuable experience navigating the often complex pedagogical, psychological and emotional needs of students, particularly those with IEP’s. In all of her placements, she has worked one-on-one with students who needed extra help outside of class time, including reading and writing review and assistance, and dialoguing/strategizing with parents and caregivers.

Elise is invested in cultivating trust with kids in her care, and believes deeply in the importance of taking children’s emotional lives seriously. Informed in part by her own experiences with ADHD (and receiving learning disability diagnoses as a child), Elise is particularly passionate about working with students with LD, ASD and ADHD diagnoses, and other ‘neurodiversities.’ She believes in the importance of keeping up to date with educational research, and understanding the facts when it comes to working with students with various types of learning needs and styles. At the same time, understanding that it is integral to tailor approaches to each individual student and not make assumptions based solely on diagnoses, in order to provide the most useful and compassionate support.
In addition to teaching, Elise has played violin since childhood and co-founded a klezmer band that has been performing for almost 10 years. She enjoys cooking experimentation, spending time with friends, and spending time in nature (especially near the Humber River!).

Amelie Elizabeth holds a Masters degree in Childhood Education from Canisius College, and is a teacher at the elementary level. She graduated with a Bachelor of Science in Environmental Sciences from the University of Guelph, before pursuing a Masters degree in Geography/Environmental Health from the University of Toronto. Elizabeth is qualified to teach all core subjects from K-6. She particularly enjoys teaching early and emerging literacy to primary-level students, and employs a variety of approaches tailored to each student’s needs. Elizabeth has worked in private schools, public schools, tutoring centers and in private practice as an in-home tutor. Elizabeth has an additional qualification in ESL from York University, and is presently a candidate for TESL Canada and TESL Ontario certification through the Canadian College of Educators. In addition to teaching, Elizabeth loves nature, travelling and good books.

Elvis graduated with his PhD in Neuroscience from McGill University where he made use of his physics, math and biology knowledge to unravel how neurological disorders arise in the healthy brain. He has been tutoring for 16 years as well as volunteered to teach elementary students about the brain by visiting classrooms and holding demonstrations. Over his tutoring career, he has encountered many learning personalities, where the strengths of each student lie and how to simplify complicated topics and instill a passion for learning in students.

Emily Talbot is an OISE teacher with Additional Qualifications in Special Education and Reading. In addition to her experience with children in a classroom setting, Emily also teaches in Outdoor Education, and has worked in Child Care for many years. She has a background in Psychology and Sociology, and a passion for teaching students music, arithmetic, science and literacy. Not only is Emily passionate about teaching students, but also exposing students to animals, as she has much experience working with animals, as an educator, in a zoo, and introducing animals to classrooms

Emma holds an M.A. in Child Study and Education from University of Toronto’s Ontario Institute for Studies in Education – a program that offers a teaching certification focused on child-centered, research-informed and inquiry-based teaching. Prior to receiving her BA in Psychology from York University, Emma worked as a buyer assistant in the fashion industry for a few years. Realizing she wanted a drastic career change, she left Toronto to work at a daycare in Cambridge Bay, Nunavut for a year, where she became passionate about working with children. This sparked her motivation to return to school to pursue a career in education.

Emma’s professional experience now includes over six years at an after-school daycare in Toronto, occasional teaching with Toronto District School Board, and more recently, teaching full-time Kindergarten and Grade 1 on a self-governing First Nation in the Yukon. Emma has experience working with diverse groups of learners, including English Language Learners, and children diagnosed with LD, ADHD, ASD, and Apraxia. Emma’s success as an educator has been contingent on the belief that a student learning need is ultimately a teacher learning need, and this defines her adaptable, reflective, and inclusive approach to instruction. She believes students should play an active, collaborative role in their own learning via on-going student-teacher conferences and assessments. She engages students in fun, interactive and experiential learning opportunities, reflective of the curriculum, demonstrating to them that learning is enjoyable and life-long.

During her free time, Emma enjoys traveling, camping and hiking with friends. She has a particular interest in cooking and baking, especially for others, and takes yoga and pottery classes in Toronto.

Eric is currently a teacher candidate in the Master of Teaching program at the Ontario Institute for Studies of Education (OISE), University of Toronto with the hopes of becoming a high school math and physics teacher. He is a Bachelor of Science graduate of the Memorial University of Newfoundland (MUN), where he majored in applied mathematics and physics. During his time there, Eric tutored high school math and first-year math, physics, and engineering courses, in addition to working as a Teaching Assistant in MUN’s Mathematics Learning Centre.

Eric is an avid sports fan, and continues to play men’s league baseball, as well as pick up basketball whenever possible. He is a licensed umpire with Baseball Ontario, and has officiated the game for over a decade.

Erica is currently completing her Masters of Education at OISE, U of T in the Primary/Junior division and will graduate from the program in June. Erica has had a passion for Special Education since being a One-to-One Support Worker at camp where she was paired with children who had ADHD, Autism, and/or a range of physical disabilities.

Erica’s positive attitude and infectious energy allow her to create engaging, educational lessons for her students. Her background in technology allows her to incorporate digital tools into every lesson, allowing students to learn unique skills for their future. Erica ensures that all her lessons align with the Ontario Curriculum and IEP guidelines and are unique to her students’ needs. She understands that each student comes with their own prior knowledge, has their own way of learning, and should be involved in their learning process every step of the way. Erica’s teaching philosophy is grounded in inclusion and therefore her job is to create a space where all students are eager to participate, feel comfortable taking risks, and have no hesitation in owning their mistakes.

During her free time, Erica likes to be active and adventurous. She enjoys boxing, coaching soccer, doing yoga and exploring. She believes that exercising all four (body, mind, spirit, and emotions) is the key to a healthy, full life and sets you up to be a lifelong learner.

Erica will be an Ontario Certified Teacher specializing in the Primary/Junior division at the end of March. She currently attends the University of Toronto for her Masters of Teachings, and has completed her honours in English and Anthropology. Erica has worked in both the Catholic and Public School Board, and has experience teaching Grades 1-5, 10, and 11. Erica has experience working with students who have Special Needs, and those who require Reading Recovery. Erica is dedicated to helping students grow academically, and enjoys creating engaging activities for her learners. Furthermore, Erica explores different methods of teaching to engage various styles of learners, and works towards creating inclusivity.

In addition to helping educate young learners, Erica has interests in baking, spending time with her family, watching movies, horseback riding, and painting.

Ericka has been teaching for 20 years, and continues to teach Kindergarten for the Toronto District School Board. Throughout her extensive career, she has gained the capacity to structure engaging teaching and lesson plans for students and has a deep passion and knowledge for the curriculum. It is rewarding for Ericka to see a student that is grasping and mastering the concept being taught. Ericka looks forward to the opportunity to work with your child, and help them instill a growth mindset and equip them to succeed academically. When she is not teaching, Ericka is raising her two children, Cruz and Myckaela, with her husband Lester.

Erin is an Ontario Certified Teacher who completed her Bachelor of Honours Music with a Minor in English and Philosophy at McMaster University. She completed her Bachelor of Education with a focus in At-Risk Youth at Queens’ University.

Since graduating, she has worked for an international private school, teaching OSSD English, Music, Social Sciences and more. She most recently joined the York Region Public School Board as an educator. Her strengths include working with At-Risk Youth, preparing students for post-secondary education, and specifically helping students achieve success in their high school English courses.

Escara is a University of Toronto graduate with her Bachelor of Education as well as her Honours Bachelor of Arts. She is an Ontario Certified Teacher who majored in French Language Learning in the Intermediate/Senior division.

During her B.Ed. Escara worked with diverse age groups at different elementary and high schools. She has worked with students from Grade 1 all the way to Grade 11! She has taught a variety of subjects from Language Learning in a Grade 4 classroom to Extended IB French in a Grade 10 classroom.

Escara is also a TRIBES certified teacher who makes learning fun and inclusive! She is always excited to learn about her students’ passions as she learns new ways to incorporate them into tutor sessions.

When she is not teaching, she enjoys spending as much time as possible with nature going for long hikes with family and friends.

Felicia is an Ontario Certified Teacher for the intermediate and senior levels. She specializes in general science and Biology.
Felicia has had experience working as an Educational Assistant with York District School Board both at elementary and secondary school levels assisting students with various personal and educational needs to reach their goals. Felicia works with Simcoe County District School Board as a supply teacher.
Felicia believes in making a difference in a student’s life through tailored lessons to meet the student’s needs giving them the opportunity to reach their life potential.
She enjoys sports like basketball and tennis, loves reading and listening to music, and loves to travel.

Francesco graduated from the Biomedical Toxicology program at the University of Guelph in 2012. In 2014, he became an Ontario accredited teacher of mathematics, science, and chemistry. He currently works for the TCDSB as an occasional teacher and is very familiar with the curriculum. Francesco’s goal as an educator is to help instill an interest in how the universe and the things in it work. To do this, Francesco likes to relate topics being taught to things that may be in a student’s everyday life. He also wants to help students become critical thinkers that can easily detect bias, so they can navigate a world that can be full of marketing misinformation at times. Francesco is also TESOL certified.

Franktonny is the first Canadian-born member of his family to successfully pursue his university degree. Franktonny graduated from Brock University’s Concurrent Education Program (majoring in Health and Physical Education) in 2017. In 2018, he sought to complete various additional qualification courses: Special Education, Visual arts, Science, and Primary Education. At this time, Franktonny also made his mark as an Outdoor Leadership Field Instructor and Resident Youth Counselor Support Worker for Pine River Institute – a therapeutic boarding school located in Northern Ontario. Through these experiences, Franktonny has learned to embrace the importance of making meaningful connections with students as a way to most effectively support them through times of conflict and hardship. These professional relationships are built with a focus on mutual respect and growth. Additionally, Franktonny’s patience, flexibility and openness to alternative perspectives allow him to remain mindful and focused on the present needs of students in all levels of development/exceptionality.
Franktonny believes in a holistically developmental learning environment – providing academic and social support through organizational teaching practices. He willingly shares his behaviour management tactics and believes that there is a lesson to be learned with every experience had. This being said, Franktonny is a firm believer in the learning that occurs beyond the classroom walls. Though qualified to teach at all elementary levels, he also embraces those experiences had outside of the classroom: being an outdoor enthusiast (a regular at High Park or Lakeshore), a foodie (open to eating all types of food), and a health & fitness junkie.
Clearly, Franktonny has a long name, and a lot to say. He is compassionate, enthusiastic and prides himself on being an intellectual teacher/ support worker/ coach. Franktonny is always welcoming new opportunities to connect and learn from others.

Gabrielle Vali received her undergraduate degree in 2011 from the University of Guelph with a focus on Child, Youth and Family Studies. After, she graduated with her Bachelor of Education from Brock University in 2012 specializing in primary/junior grades. To gain teaching experience, Gabrielle moved to Australia in 2013 where she supply-taught in both mainstream and special education schools. While teaching in special education schools, she worked with children that had Autism, Down syndrome and ADHD. Shortly after returning from Australia, Gabrielle moved to England to teach for two years. While there she had a full-time teaching position where she taught years 3 and 4 (Ages 7-9) and gained immense teaching experience. While in the UK, Gabrielle taught numerous students that had behavioural issues and learning disabilities and as a result she learned new strategies and ideas to help those students persevere and succeed.

As a life long learner, Gabrielle has taken a number of AQ’s and professional development courses to continue her education. She obtained her Special Education Part 1 and English as a Second Language Part 1 AQ’s through Trent University. She has also completed her TRIBES training through Brock University.

Gina completed her Honours Bachelor of Arts and her Bachelor of Education at the University of Toronto. As part of the University’s French program, Gina also studied at Université Laval in Quebec City and emerged with a specialization in French and Linguistics.

Gina is an Ontario Certified Teacher with Intermediate/Senior qualifications whose teaching subjects are French, Special Education and Co-Operative Education. Gina’s career in education spans 30 years and involves teaching all grades from 1 to 12 in two Boards of Education in Toronto and York Region. Her eagerness to continue teaching and tutoring students is unceasing. In the autumn of 2016, Gina completed training for the International Baccalaureate Program. Additionally, she received certification from the University of British Columbia in Mindfulness Training in the spring of 2017.

Gina’s interests include reading, writing, yoga, sewing and hiking.

Gina is passionate about the learning journey. She is a life-long learner who learns as much from her students as they do from her. Gina believes that the key to student success is the fun factor. Students learn better if they are enjoying the process. Her goal is to get to know her students and their interests in order to cater to their individual learning styles

Haitham majored in math and statistics, and also has a Bachelors of Commerce from York University. He enjoys helping others and found he has a knack for explaining math concepts and used that in his work for several tutoring companies during his undergraduate years as well as afterwards. After amassing considerable experience he was hired as a high school math teacher at several private high schools in the North York and Vaughan area.

Haitham believes in a patient, positive and fun learning environment. His goal is to have a positive impact on his students’ educational life and have fun doing it.

In 2016, Haley completed her Bachelor of Arts in Kinesiology at Western University. During her time at Western, she participated in research studies for neuroscience and primarily had an interest for sport psychology. Haley has recently completed her Bachelor of Education at Western University, while extensively focusing on the Advanced Psychology Cohort. She will obtain OCT certification as well as the Intermediate qualification upon graduation in June 2018.

From a young age Haley has always been passionate about teaching and helping others. Her drive stems from wanting to pay forward positive experiences she had within classrooms and sport teams. She stands for equity within education and believes that every student has different learning styles that should be celebrated. Haley takes pride in trying to be creative while helping students achieve their learning goals.

Haley has developed her skills by working closely with special education departments within various schools and school boards. She has learned strategies from resource teachers and had the opportunity to work one-on-one with many different students and learning styles while following IEP guidelines. Haley also continues to educate herself by completing personal development online workshops in math and community building strategies. For example, these certificates include Risk Taking, Talk Less Listen More, Strategies For Student Engagement, and Math Is Figure-out-able.

In her free time, Haley likes to maintain an active lifestyle and educate herself in health and wellness. She is a retired gymnast, synchronized swimmer and has taught swimming lessons for many years. Now she enjoys hiking, swimming, and playing flag football. She also has an interest for cooking and baking!

Haley believes that anyone is capable of reaching a common goal; however each person’s journey or path may be a little different.

Hannah is an Ontario Certified Teacher specializing in primary, junior and intermediate instruction.

Hannah grew up on Georgian Bay and moved to Toronto to complete her Bachelor of Arts in History and French at York University, Glendon.

Hannah prides herself on being an enthusiastic and involved educator with a commitment to cultivating learning opportunities that are hands-on, meaningful, and engaging. She possesses a wide range of teaching experience with students from kindergarten to grade 8 in virtual, classroom, and even outdoor settings.

Hannah currently works as an Occasional Teacher with the Simcoe County District School Board and an Outdoor Educator at Evergreen Brick Works in Toronto. Hannah hopes that with her teaching she can foster civic and social responsibility and encourage future stewards of the Earth. Hannah’s passion for learning has even brought her to Windsor Castle, England – working with leaders like Jane Goodall to create programming opportunities for youth.

Along with a commitment to helping student’s meet their academic goals, Hannah believes that social-emotional well-being and relationships should be at the forefront of all her teaching.

Hannah is currently finishing the last year of her Bachelor of Education at Queen’s University, and is expected to obtain OCT certification in July of 2024. Hannah has over 5 years experience teaching both primary/junior and intermediate/senior students. Hannah has taught Math, English, Science, and Social studies to students of all ages and grades. Hannah is passionate about helping all her students succeed and believes every student has the ability to succeed.

In 2016, Haylee completed her Bachelor of Arts summa cum laude at the University of Ottawa. She earned a double major degree in Didactique des langues secondes and Français. She also obtained French Immersion certification from UOttawa. During her studies, she worked as a bilingual student mentor, helping students to build academic skills and study skills. She also worked extensively with international students. She completed her Bachelor of Education coursework in the French Cohort at Western University and will obtain OCT certification, as well as FSL Part 1 upon graduation in June 2018.

She is very passionate about helping others and sharing her love of languages and learning with students. She strives to offer every student equity in education and is dedicated to helping each student achieve their learning goals. She has worked for a variety of Education companies as a teacher and tutor. Additionally, she has worked in French and Math curriculum writing to develop materials for Education centres.

Haylee is very passionate about literacy development and has worked as a French Literacy Facilitator to develop individualized and authentic French literacy activities for French students. She has also volunteered as a scribe for French Immersion students during EQAO testing.

Haylee engages students through integration of technology and apps for Education. In her own teaching, she has used Interactive Whiteboards, such as Smartboards, Apple TV, and a variety of Google Applications.

Haylee hopes to complete her Masters of Education in the coming years. She is also interested in obtaining Additional Qualifications such as FSL Part 2, Specialist, and Special Education. She is interested in further research in cross-curricular approaches to teaching and learning, and second language acquisition.

Hayley has successfully completed an undergraduate degree in Psychology with a focus on child development, a Behavioural Science Certificate, her Teacher Certification, and additional qualifications in Special Education, ESL, Primary/ Junior Mathematics, and Kindergarten. Hayley has worked for the Peel District School Board for 6 years as both a Teaching Assistant, and Teacher. She has taught in grade 3 and grade 5 classrooms, planning and delivering engaging lessons to her students. Currently, Hayley works as an Autism Itinerant Teacher with the PDSB supporting students with autism in mainstream classrooms. Heather earned her Bachelor’s Degree in Arts and Contemporary Studies, and Psychology minor from Ryerson University in 2014. She is currently a Primary/Junior Teacher Candidate of the Master of Arts in Child Studies and Education program at the University of Toronto.
During her studies, Heather taught Primary to Junior classes for the TDSB at Lord Dufferin Junior and Senior Public School, Parkdale Junior and Senior Public School, Garden Avenue Public School, and Pauline Junior Public School. Heather also spent three years teaching international English Language Learners (preschool to grade 6) in Shanghai, China. Her specialty is building literacy skills through an inquiry model to reach every student. Her dedication is to provide multiple access points for children to engage with material on a continuum of needs and abilities.

Iliana completed her Bachelors of Education from the University of Ottawa in 2012 specializing the in the Primary/Junior Divisions. Dedicated to working with students of all needs and abilities, Iliana completed addition qualifications in Special Education 1 and has her Reading Specialist.

Following her B.Ed., Iliana began working as an Occasional teacher with a school board. She has experience working in a variety of grades and currently teaches in the junior division. She worked as a literacy coach for 2 years, supporting students in literacy development and worked collaboratively with teachers to develop programing. Iliana also facilitated various workshops and conferences for educators from understanding student reading behaviours to reading assessment workshops. She has a passion for literacy and continues to grow as an educator.

My name is Ivana Pejakovic. I have a BA degree in Sociology/English from York University, and a B.Ed degree from UOIT (University of Ontario Institute of Technology). I am an Ontario Certified Teacher in the Primary-Junior-Intermediate divisions with additional qualifications in TESOL/TEFL, Special Education, English, Outdoor Education, Mental Health, and I have over 13 years of extensive experience in working, and volunteering with children, youth, adults, and in the field of education, as well as non-profit organizations advocating for children’s/human rights. I have experience working abroad, with ESL students, as well as students with exceptionalities, private tutoring and I am proficient in the French language.

I have worked for the Toronto District School Board as a Special Needs Assistant/Educational Assistant/Noon-Hour (Developmental Disability) Assistant for five years. For the past year, I have been working at the Oxford Learning Centre as an English, and French language teacher. I am really passionate about teaching, and learning. I am a life-long learner, and I strive for knowledge, and wisdom. I hope to pursue a Masters degree in Education some day. Since Graduating with a Masters of Education in 2010, with her thesis focusing on the importance of Visual Literacy in the Classroom, Ivanka has spent her time teaching in different parts of Canada and the World: 1 year in London, UK; 2 years in Saskatchewan, 2 years in Alberta and now back in Ontario. Her experiences in different provinces/countries allowed Ivanka to observe various educational systems and procedures, allowing her to experience first hand a variety of techniques and practices most beneficial to a child’s success in learning.
Although English and Ukrainian were her official teachables, her true passion is teaching art and implementing artistic avenues into her teaching of other subjects. Ivanka is a firm believer that all children can be taught ALL subjects – some just need to take a different road to get there.

Izabella values herself as a positive role model with the ability to build trust with her students through empathy and care. After completing an Honours Bachelor Degree in Life Science from McMaster University in 2010, with a minor in Vocal Music, she became an Ontario Certified Teacher in 2012 from the University of Ottawa.

She is qualified to teach in the Intermediate and Senior divisions, is specialized to teach Biology, General Science and Vocal Music, and has completed an Additional Qualification credit in Special Education.

Izabella believes in empowering students to be confident in their abilities and motivate them through learning. She has worked in the UK teaching Science to Grades 7 to 12, and is now working in North York as both a supply teacher, and Science teacher.

Jacky received her undergraduate degree from McMaster University in 2009 and completed her Masters of Science in Education in 2011 at Niagara University. Her teacher specialties are in Primary and Junior grade levels and for 5 years she has worked for the Peel District School Board. This year she is working in a K-5 elementary school teaching the Arts and Language. Last year she was working in a middle school teaching Physical Education and Math. She believes that whatever the subject may be, integrating technology in a meaningful way can benefit students and teachers alike.

Jacky has a strong connection to athletics. With her non-traditional teaching background as a Certified Personal Trainer and Coach, her connection to mindfulness for the body and the brain go hand-in-hand. In the Summer and Fall she plays Volleyball, Golf, and Tennis and had an extensive career playing Rugby for Ontario. In the winter she loves Snowboarding and playing Hockey.

In her teaching role with Peel Board she has volunteered an extensive amount with students. This past year she went to Alberta with a group of Grade 7 students, on a YMCA exchange program, to learn more about aboriginal socialism, disparities and lifestyles. She also took a group of Grade 6 students, on a 3-night camping trip, to Albion Hills in Barrie to explore and gain a sense of adventure! Due to her passion for being active has also offered to coach many teams with Peel including Soccer, Rugby, Flag Football, Floor Hockey, Volleyball, Basketball and Track. She believes that sports can be a great motivator to help students stay inspired in school, gain accountability from teammates, take on leadership, and truly value taking responsibility.

Teaching and coaching students of all age groups is her passion. She believes that when you do something you love, you never have to work a day in your life.

James is a graduate of Brock University’s Concurrent Education program where he was on the Dean’s Honour list in 2018 and specializes teaching grades 4-10. He also has had experience teaching at the secondary level and has his qualifications in Special Education and Guidance and Career Education.

James’ educational philosophy puts the child at the centre of the learning by building strong
connections with the student to discover their interests and passions so he can create lessons that are engaging and meaningful. He believes that it is essential for students to develop effective 21st Century Skills with an emphasis on communication, collaboration, and critical thinking while utilizing technology to its maximum effectiveness (while of course avoiding sensory overload). Regardless of the students’ entry skills and unique challenges, he creates an environment that is safe and uses an individualized approach to ensure that any gaps in learning are filled. He understands and has experience working with students during the past two years when social isolation and anxiety plagued our youth.

Now, students need to be feel good about themselves, have the confidence to build strong academic and personal skills, and be optimistic about their future. Jason has been teaching in the Toronto District School Board for 20 years. During this time he has taught with all grade levels from K- 8 across the system with proven results and success in mental health, math anxiety, organization, science, math and literacy.

Jason has an extensive background in Physical Education and has coached many teams in the TDSB, as well as running countless tournaments in all sports. His favourite players are Auston Matthews and Scotiie Barnes. With the recent shift to a virtual platform and back to in person learning, Jason has discovered, used, taught and explored new resources to let students feel welcome in their classrooms and thrive in the curriculum.

Jeehyo graduated with a Bachelor of Mathematics from the University of Waterloo in 2012. She then attended the University of Ottawa in 2013, and received a Bachelor of Education with a focus on Math and History (Intermediate/Senior Division). Jeehyo recognized her passion for teaching early on, and this led her to take part in many volunteer activities over the years such as academic help sessions and homework clubs. Her recent teaching experiences include: organizing and running senior math classes at a private school, private high school math tutoring, and being in charge of after-school help sessions. Jeehyo enjoys not only meeting students one-to-one to fulfill their needs, but also building solid relationships with them. She strives to guide students to develop better study habits.

Jennifer graduated from The University of Western Ontario, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Anthropology. Jennifer in an Ontario Certified Teacher and received her Bachelor of Education from Nipissing University in the Junior/Intermediate division. She received her Bilingual Certificate of Canada through the Ontario Secondary French Immersion program. Jennifer has taken her Reading Parts 1, 2 and 3, French as a Second Language Part 1, and her Primary and Senior Qualifications.

Jennifer has taught full-time for the past four years with the Peel District School Board in a middle school. She has experience teaching Language, Reading and Mathematics. Jessica is a recent graduate from Brock University where she studied Physical Education and Concurrent Education at the Intermediate/Senior level with a minor in geography. During placements Jessica has worked in 4 different high schools across southern Ontario and has experience with a variety of student learning levels grade 9-12. Most recently she has been volunteering in a grade 5 class and has enjoyed the new challenges. Jessica has a deep understanding of the learning process and knows that everyone individual has different abilities and attempts to use these abilities and interests to progress through the Ontario curriculum.

Jessica prides herself on being adaptable versatile and creative, these skills allow her to create an ideal learning environment. Jessica loves the outdoors and being physically active; more than anything she is passionate about learning and is currently learning sign language and guitar. Jill Ann has a Bachelor of Applied Science honours degree from the University of Guelph, as well as Advanced ECE and a TESL certificate. She has taught students for many years. She teaches students from Kindergarten through high school, as well as adult students. She primarily teaches English and math, but also helps with other subjects. Her passion is to help students learn and succeed.

Joanna completed her Bachelor of Education at OISE for the Primary/Junior grades, with an emphasis on Kindergarten. Joanna has experience in the Kindergarten classroom, Grade 1 classroom and Grade 6 classroom. Her specialties include teaching kids how to read from the VERY beginning to fluency, making math fun (yes it can!), french and science (in particular grade 6 science.)

Joanna’s teacher pedagogy is one that promotes all over health for the body, mind and spirit of children, as she believes we can shape our children through diet, physical activity, positive reinforcement and support and engagement. If students aren’t learning, it’s not the children that need to change, but the teaching. She is also a Mom of two boys, age 1 and 3.

Joanna is an experienced French tutor and has been teaching this beautiful, international language for 7 years– and counting! She has been learning French for most of her life, from taking Extended French and AP French throughout school, to continuing her learning at York University’s Glendon College in Translation Studies. John graduated from York University with a Bachelor of Honours in 2007 with a major in English and a minor in Film. He obtained his Bachelor of Education from Western University and became an Ontario Certified Teacher in 2009 at the Primary, Junior, and Senior levels. For the last seven years, he has been a permanent secondary teacher with DPCDSB, teaching a variety of subjects including English literature, History, Geography, Anthropology/Psychology/Sociology, Math, and Film Studies. He also teaches after-school literacy classes, is on the literacy committee, works closely with ESL students, and coaches both hockey and soccer.

Additionally, John is a trained SAT and SSAT coach and he enjoys delivering instruction in reading comprehension and verbal analogies too help students succeed on this entrance test.

In his spare time, he teaches drums, enjoys cooking, travels extensively, and plays hockey.

Josh is an easy going Australian teacher who builds great rapport with his students; and utilises a strong professional understanding of curriculum to help students with the subjects they are having difficulties with. As a classroom teacher he has built a strong working relationship with his students using the N.S.W. Department of Educations quality teaching framework and both BC and Ontario curriculum. Josh encourages students to put in effort with their studies and believes that with his help, the effort they put in, will produce the results they want. Juliana began learning French at a very young age as a student in a francophone school. From grades 7-12, she continued her studies in the Extended French program and had the opportunity to participate in several French public speaking competitions. In high school, Juliana more fully discovered her passion for the sciences and found a way to pursue her love for both French and Science in university. After Juliana’s second year, she had the privilege of participating in a French summer exchange program in France, which offered her an unparalleled learning experience while being immersed in the richness of the culture.

As the eldest of five children and having extensive volunteer and work experience with children ranging from grades 1-12, Juliana has gained practical experience in teaching and leadership. Juliana believes in the importance of forming meaningful relationships with her students and working together to find specific ways to help them achieve their goals. Juliana hopes to share her love for learning while creating a healthy environment where each student feels encouraged and supported to reach their full potential.

Justine has a Bachelor of Fine Arts Honours and a Bachelor of Education from York University. She is an OCT certified teacher in Primary/Junior with an Additional Qualification in Special Education. Justine is skilled in differentiated instruction and recognizes the individuality of each learner. Beyond her passion for the Arts, she has a passion for literacy and is trained in teaching ESL.

Passionate about languages and composition, Kaela is certified bilingual in English and French with intermediate proficiency in Italian.

Having studied at a French elementary school, Kaela later continued her high school studies in the French Immersion program and completed her French Advanced Placement exam with a score of 5/5 certifying her as bilingual. She later received a Bilingualism Scholarship to the University of Ottawa where she then studied Communications in French Immersion. Beyond her academic studies in French, Kaela had the wonderful opportunity to participate in a French Exchange program in Lyon, France for a month where she lived and build a friendship with a local french student. They are still in contact today!

Kaela has competed and won numerous french-speaking competitions (Concours d’Art Orratoire) in Ontario where she performed her original work and was the captain of her school’s French Improvisation team. She is passionate about storytelling and using text, image, and sound as mediums for communication. This passion has led her to work in journalism as a contributing writer for both local publications and a Los Angeles-based magazine, and work in marketing and communications for brands who have desired a strong voice.

Kaela has worked with students in both official languages for many years as a tutor, camp counselor, mentor, and teacher in languages, dance, and sports education. She brings empathy and patience to her practice and offers a safe space for her students to explore and learn.

In her spare time, Kaela enjoys shooting film photography, hanging out with her giant golden retriever, Cody, and singing & playing guitar!

Karolina Fila is a recent graduate from York University with both a Bachelors of Education and Bachelors of Arts degree. Her teachables are in language and humanities courses, however she is also available to assist with mathematics from grades 1-10.
During her French teaching practicum, Karolina worked with students from kindergarten to grade 8. Here she used a variety of teaching styles that included individual studies, student-led group discussions and pairs. Each lesson focused on introducing new vocabulary words and was built on prior knowledge. The fundamentals such as grammar, conjugation, sentence structure and oral communication were introduced and reviewed with each grade, so that by the end of the year, the intermediate classes were creating presentations and writing short paragraphs on their own.
Karolina’s practicum for her History teachable took place in a High school and focused on the grades 10-12. Here she created interactive lessons that included open-dialogue, technology and developing important writing skills. Karolina prepared students for seminar presentations and assisted with writing essays and creating proper citations for research papers.
Karolina also enjoys playing sports and traveling. She believes that playing sports and participating in extracurricular activities is essential for successful studies and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. Karolina participated in summer language programs both in Quebec and France, where her passion for teaching French became even more evident. She tries her best to incorporate the francophone culture into her lessons through music, videos and literature.

In 2017, Kate received her Bachelor of Arts in Political Science and International Development with an honours distinction from Saint Francis Xavier University in Nova Scotia. She is currently a student at the University of Toronto working towards her Master of Teaching at OISE, specializing in Primary/Junior grade levels. Over the last ten years, Kate has gained a great deal of experience working with children. Kate has spent her last 7 summers leading kids aged 7-15 on canoe trips lasting between 2-50 days throughout Northern Ontario. In the winters, Kate taught kids aged 2-12 how to ski. Kate completed her first practicum placement at Toronto Urban Studies Centre in which she led programs to a different class and a different grade everyday. Kate completed French Immersion and graduated high school with a bilingual certificate. In her third year of university, she spent six months abroad in France studying at an elite political science school, Sciences Po. Kate loves spending time getting to know kids and helping them reach their full potential. She focuses on building the students’ confidence and creates a positive learning environment in which kids are able to make mistakes and learn from it. Kate is positive, enthusiastic and loves teaching kids in a fun and engaging manner. In Kate’s free time, she loves to travel, hike, canoe, play guitar and sing.

In 2014, Kate graduated from the Child, Youth and Family program at the University of Guelph. Kate has recently completed the Master of Teaching program at OISE as a primary/junior teacher. She has also taken additional teaching qualifications in mathematics, special education, intermediate health and physical education and TRIBES community building (incorporating social skills into the school environment).

Kate worked as a “Tutor in the Classroom” with the York Region District School Board for four years. In this role, she worked with students to promote a growth mindset, helping her students believe their basic abilities, their intelligence and their talents could be developed. She taught literacy, mathematics, drama, dance and science to students in a fun and engaging way!

Kate currently works as an Educational Assistant with the Halton District School Board. In this position, she supports students with Autism, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Down syndrome, and other exceptionalities. In this setting, she creates academic programs to each learner in the classroom to suit their unique needs, abilities and interests.

In 2014, Katherine completed her Bachelor of Education with Distinction from the University of Western Ontario. While her teachable is Junior/Intermediate Physical and Health Education, she has also completed Additional Qualifications in Primary and Special Education Part 1. Katherine is currently completing her Masters of Education from Ontario Institute for Studies in Education, focusing on Developmental Psychology and Education.

As an Occasional Teacher, Katherine teaches a variety of subjects to students ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 8. She previously worked as an Educational Assistant with the Waterloo Region District School Board, wherein she assisted students with Cerebral Palsy, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Attention Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Vision Impairments, and other exceptionalities.

Physical activity and sport participation has been a central component of Katherine’s life. She has been involved in many activities, including: soccer, volleyball, dance, basketball, swimming, and equestrian.

Katherine is a passionate and energetic person who genuinely enjoys teaching and working with children. Katherine has a Bachelor of Arts in History and Sociology from Toronto Metropolitan University. She continued her education earning a Bachelor of Education degree from York University at the Catholic Education Center. She has 7+ years of experience working with children as an educator, tutor, mentor, dance teacher, and volunteer in different schools across Toronto.

Katherine engages in open communication with students about inclusivity, equity and different learning approaches to establish a safe and respectful learning environment. Katherine holds additional qualifications in Reading, Special Education and Teaching English Language Learners. Katherine has dedicated several years to teaching students with dual diagnosis life skills. She is a strong advocate for incorporating technology in the classroom for students with exceptionalities. Katherine enjoys volunteering her time to organizations such as, The Catholic Children’s Aid Society and Distress Center. Her role at CCAS involved supervising access to ensure the emotional and physical protection of the children.

Kathryn was born in Toronto, Ontario, but is lucky to have lived, worked, and studied in the UK, the Middle East, and Korea. Kathryn received a Bachelor’s degree from Queen’s University, and holds a Master’s in Teaching from the University of Toronto. She is also certified by the Ontario College of Teachers to teach at the primary/junior level.

Kathryn’s passion for teaching began when she was a French camp counsellor in Quebec, and has only grown since then. In her career, Kathryn has acted as a primary French instructor with Toronto Parks & Recreation, has worked as an educational tour director in Quebec City and Montreal, and has spent two years teaching ESL in Korea. Kathryn is a firm believer in making learning fun, and knows that children are most engaged when content has meaning, and when students see themselves reflected in their learning environment.

Kathryn is also a passionate advocate for diversity and inclusion, which led her to creating an inaugural education program for vulnerable youth in Korea, and to launching a skills-based learning program at the Lotus Centre for Children with Autism. In addition to this, Kathryn also completed her Master’s thesis on supporting the transition of Syrian refugee students to the Canadian elementary classroom.

Katie is currently in her final semester at the Faculty of Education at the University of Ontario Institute of Technology and will graduate in December 2018 when she will become an Ontario Certified Teacher at the Primary/Junior level. She received her undergraduate degree in Business Administration from Wilfred Laurier University in 2010 and held a seven-year career in marketing prior to starting her journey towards obtaining her Bachelor of Education.

Katie has had multiple placement experiences within the Toronto Catholic District School Board, has facilitated financial literacy programs with Junior Achievement Central and remains active in the community by volunteering as a Leader of Children’s Liturgy at Blessed Sacrament Parish. She has worked one-on-one with many learners who had behavioural and developmental learning exceptionalities and helped students gain confidence as well as positive results with mathematics and literacy skills.

Katie is qualified to tutor learners from Kindergarten up to the Grade 6 level and is trained in the Direct Instruction method of teaching. Her vision of teaching is to create a safe learning environment where her students know they are being represented and welcomed with compassion, acceptance, and respect, because she has taken the time to get to know each and every one of them. In her spare time, she loves to take kickboxing classes, travel with her husband and read a really good book!

In April 2017, Katrina completed her Bachelor of Education from Laurentian University. She is certified to teach primary/junior but she has experience teaching and/or tutoring kindergarten to grade 9. She also has experience teaching special education.

She has had practicum placements which allowed her to teach kindergarten all the way to grade 5. She has experience tutoring grades 2, 3, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8, and 9. She has experience teaching language, math, science, social studies, visual arts, physical education, and drama. During her tutoring experience she has focused on tutoring math and language but has also done homework assistance.

She has experience working with individuals with exceptionalities that include autism spectrum disorder, down syndrome, intellectual disabilities, physical disabilities, learning disabilities, and ADHD/ADD.

Kayla Martinez has studied at the University of Toronto in a Master of Teaching program and with a Bachelors of Arts degree. Her teachables are in language and humanities courses, however she is also available to assist with mathematics from grades 1-8. During her English teaching practicum, Kayla particularly worked with students in preparing and developing their skills for the OSSLT. In order to develop other English skills, like essay writing, Kayla also used a variety of teaching styles that included lecture style teaching, group discussions and pair work. Each lesson focused on vocabulary, building on prior knowledge, and developing key writing skills. In addition, Kayla has worked with struggling readers in local schools by using running records in order to develop and gage necessary reading skills. Kayla’s History teachable was focused primarily around the grade 10 Canadian History curriculum. Here her lessons included mock trials, jigsaw activities, defense paragraph writing, and more – honing on core skills needed for students to be critical thinkers. Kayla prepared her students for seminar like presentations and she assisted in developing research and citation skills. Kayla is also an avid animal lover, especially of her pup Lola. Kayla loves to travel and has gone to Portugal many times to visit extended family. She is also a lover of languages and is currently developing her Spanish by immersing herself in Spanish music, videos and literature.

My name is Kayla Tavares and I am a full-day kindergarten educator within a school board. The three guiding principles that reflect my philosophy are: enabling success for every child through admiring and equally respecting them and their families for their uniqueness and their diversity, facilitating optimism and goodness in all situations and promote superior learning experiences. I have had many experiences working within diverse childcare settings and elementary schools, which provided me with substantial knowledge regarding child development and child-rearing practices. I have gained knowledge and had experience planning and implementing Emergent Curriculum utilizing the FDK Communication of Learning Curriculum as well as the ELECT Framework. I have worked specifically with children from kindergarten to grade 1, and in addition children with exceptionalities such as ADHD and autism. Kendra completed her Master of Arts in Child Study and Education at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. Through this program she received her certification with the Ontario College of Teachers to teach Primary/ Junior grades and has since upgraded with qualifications in Intermediate and Senior Math, and Special Education. She also holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts in Psychology with a Minor in Math from Wilfrid Laurier University.

Kendra has been tutoring students with a variety of needs at all age levels for six years, specializing in mathematics. She believes any math concept can be presented in a way that is meaningful to all students. Kendra is able to explain those tricky concepts through the use of concrete examples addressing students’ procedural fluency and conceptual understanding. Based on the results of her qualifying research project, Kendra knows the importance of getting students orally explaining and justifying their mathematical reasoning for deeper understanding.

Kendra believes every child can succeed when given the proper one-on-one support and encouragement. She believes strongly in developing positive relationships with her students which allows for greater learning opportunities.

Ketan has been working with kids for eleven years now. He began by volunteering with the City of Toronto: Parks and Recreation as a volunteer for summer camp. The following year was when he got hired as a camp counselor for March break camp. Once he had finished March break camp as a counselor, he did various programs such as coaching basketball, soccer, floor ball, and was also a after school program leader for the After-school Recreation Program in west Etobicoke.

Ketan received his undergraduate degree at York University for Health and Society, followed by a post graduate certificate in Workplace Wellness and Health Promotion attained at Centennial College. He quickly realized his passion was not in the health field as teaching kids was his passion so he went to York University for a Bachelor’s of Education: Primary/ Junior.

Kevin is a Research Chemist turned Teacher-Candidate (Pursuing his B.Ed). He spent three years in his undergraduate studies mentoring students and the last two years (2021-2022) tutoring Grades 7-11 in Math and Science in an underserved community. Kristen graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in 2010 with a degree in Sociology and went on to receive her Bachelors of Education in 2011 at The University of Western Ontario. Since graduating, Kristen has taken additional courses in Special Education, Reading, ESL and Primary Education. Kristen is currently employed by the Halton District School Board and is a grade 2/3 teacher. In her spare time, Kristen loves to dance, do yoga, and spend time with her puppy!

Kristin graduated from York University earning an Honors Double Major in Spanish and Latin American and Caribbean Studies. She then went on to complete her second degree, with a Bachelor of Education at the Primary/Junior Level. After graduating, she worked as a supply teacher at Branksome Hall, teaching grades JK to 6 in all subject areas. Kristin is currently a full-time teacher for grades Pre-K to SK and has extensive experience teaching children of all ages. She has also worked collaboratively with Occupational Therapists and Speech and Language Pathologists, helping students with cognitive, sensory, motor, and speech and language challenges achieve success in the classroom. As part of her professional development, Kristin is trained in the Handwriting Without Tears and Wilson programs as well as in the O.G (Orton-Gillingham) method. Kristin is a passionate teacher who firmly believes that educational instruction should not follow a “one size fits all” approach, but must be adapted to fit the unique learning styles of each student.

Krystle completed a Bachelors of Education in 2009 and went on to complete a Masters of Sociology in 2011 at York University. Krystle has worked in a variety of teaching environments which include private, public and community based schools for over five years. Prior to her 2015 commencement as an Occasional Elementary School Teacher with the Peel District School Board she worked as a Teaching Assistant (TA) for several school in the Brampton and Mississauga area. As a TA she worked with students with special needs in particular students whom face behavioural challenges, Autism Spectrum Disorder, Downs Syndrome, speech impediments, Cerebral Palsy and Global Developmental Delay.

In addition to her elementary teaching experience she also taught for three years at a private career college, specializing in assisting English Language Learners and Newcomers to Canada upgrade their academic and employment skills. She was responsible for one-on-one tutoring and large classroom instruction, all academic assessments, computer training (Microsoft Office) and designing and instructung the online English secondary courses. Krystle has been tutoring students of all ages in various subject areas for over 7 years.

Krystle enjoys going for morning jogs, playing volleyball, cooking, baking and attending film festivals, stage plays and musicals.

Lauren received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Early Childhood Studies with honours from Ryerson University in 2015, certifying her as a Registered Early Childhood Educator. She then went on to complete her Master of Arts in Child Study and Education at OISE, specializing in Primary and Junior grade levels.

During her studies, Lauren was actively involved at various elementary schools, working with diverse groups of children between the ages of Kindergarten through to Grade 6. These experiences in addition to her eight summers at a Montessori School have allowed Lauren to work closely with children in large and small groups as well as one-on-one, differentiating her lessons to highlight the strengths and meet the needs of all her students. Lauren prides herself on ensuring that her lessons are highly engaging, relevant and supporting of unique learning styles and preferences. Additionally, she aims to develop self-confidence alongside academic growth in each of her students, seeing confidence as a major factor in the learning process. Lauren wants her students to fall in love with learning, which is why she works to create sparks of interest and a passion for discovery.

Believing strongly in life long learning, Lauren continues to participate in professional development opportunities. Within the last year, some of the PDs she has taken include the TRIBES community building program and Special Education Part 1. She is currently enrolled in a training course for the Wilson Reading Program, as well as additional qualification courses in Mathematics, Reading and Autism Communication.

I have been teaching for four years in the Private and Independent School sector. I have experience teaching in a variety of subject areas and with a wide variety of courses (see full course list below for details). My specialties and interests include topics related to social, political, economic, and environmental issues. I am proficient in helping students with writing, editing and structuring essays as well as managing large projects. I enjoy breaking these large tasks down into manageable steps while making sure that the student stays on the timeline for completion. I ensure that we read over the requirements of the project or homework task so they do not miss any part of it as well as ensure that they are clear on how are being evaluated. I also enjoy helping students with day to day homework tasks as this builds their confidence and abilities, especially with their literacy skills which are essential for a students success. Lastly, my personal interest include music (singing, playing guitar, and DJing), practicing yoga, and making jewellery. Lauren joins Prep Academy with over 10 years of experience working with children and youths. She completed her elementary education at Toronto French School, developing bilingual proficiency and a love for language and literature in both English and French. In 2012, she graduated from Queen’s University, with an honours degree in Drama and French, as well as a Bachelor of Education. At Queen’s, she was the recipient of the Principal’s Scholarship, and graduated with distinction. She then moved overseas to complete her MA in Professional Acting at the Bristol Old Vic Theatre School.

For the past two years, Lauren has remained in the UK to pursue professional performance and teaching opportunities. As a cover teacher, she gained experience across all grades and curriculum areas. She soon became a fixture at Bristol Grammar School, where she taught everything from Dance and Music to Maths and Sciences, in addition to assisting with extracurricular productions.

Lauren is especially fond of teaching outside the classroom, both one-on-one and in small groups; she spends her summers at Centauri Summer Arts Camp, where she runs two-week immersive theatre programs for young artists. She loves arts-based education, and strives to incorporate drama, dance, visual arts, and music wherever possible.

Lauren enjoys working with students of all ages, especially through experiential learning. She has experience working with special needs students and strongly believes that given the right opportunities, everyone can learn!

Lawrence is a retired high school teacher from the Toronto District School Board where he taught Business subjects and Math. His love for teaching has compelled him to continue helping young people learn, through tutoring. Reflecting on his long career, he realizes that, when teaching, he is ‘giving’, and that, in the end, is deeply rewarding. It is the source of his passion for helping students. His 40 years in the classroom have given him unique insight into the difficulties students face and the critical junctures they need to bridge, especially in subjects like mathematics, which is highly sequential. However he is a trained business teacher specializing in subjects like Accounting, Information and Communication Technology, Marketing, Entrepreneurship, International Business, Management studies, etc.

Lesley completed her Bachelor of Arts, Spanish, at the University of Guelph. She obtained her Bachelor of Education from OISE, University of Toronto and has primary, intermediate/senior and FSL qualifications. She is an OCT member.

Lesley is passionate about languages and teaching and has taught French, Spanish and ESL among other subjects at the primary, junior, intermediate/senior and adult level. Her passions have taken her abroad to study and to teach in France, Mexico and Chile. She volunteers as a Spanish-English translator and interpreter for several organizations.

Lesley really enjoys working one-on-one with students, connecting with each one and seeing them build their confidence and make progress. She adjusts her classes to each individual student’s interests and needs. She encourages her students to use their languages in and outside of class as much as possible.

Lesley enjoys travelling, running, yoga and spending time with family, friends and her very active Aussie Shepherd.

Liisha is a dedicated, innovative and accomplished educator with 7+ years experience. After working in Calgary, Liisha moved to Toronto and brought back with her a passion to inspire personal growth and empowerment through individualized learning. Liisha’s experience includes English language learners, students with exceptional needs, students who require specialized accommodation in learning, intellectual
and physical disabilities. She has evolved as a teacher who fosters independence, while cultivating an environment that promotes mutual respect and open communication. Someone once posed the question- “Would you want to spend a whole day learning in your classroom?” Her answer would be most definitely! As a guide, she creatively personalize student learning by designing engaging tasks that are meaningful and enjoyable, allowing your child to build confidence while becoming a critical and independent thinker.

She is passionate about infusing environmental education where possible, and I believe that a holistic approach fosters a child’s ability to understand and respect the natural environment and interconnectedness that exists. One teacher, one voice, one child can change the world.

Lindsay completed her undergrad in Second Language Teaching for French at the university of Ottawa, studying in French immersion and taking full advantage of the study abroad opportunities in Lyopn, France that UOttawa provided. Here, she paired her major with a minor in English Literature. After completing her undergrad, Lindsay earned her Bachelor of Education at Western, where she travelled abroad to Montpellier, France for her last placement. Lindsay is qualified to teach French for grades 4 through 10, and all subjects at the Junior level.

While Lindsay loves teaching a variety of different subjects, she has a strong passion for the French language, and looks forward to teaching her future students all the added benefits that learning a second language can have. Lindsay’s passion for French stems from her travels and studies abroad.

Over the past six summers, Lindsay has worked with children and young adolescents at day camps. She enjoys working with all Junior and Intermediate age groups, and believes that the key to successful learning is by creating a great relationship with your students.

Lira believes in creating an inclusive learning environment for students. Lira has completed her Bachelors of Science in Biology and is currently completing a Master’s degree in Education. Lira can tutor students from grade 4-10 in math, literacy and science.

In 2014, Lorna received her Bachelor of Arts with honours at Ryerson University for Early Childhood Studies. Lorna has recently completed her Master of Teaching at OISE with a specialization in Primary/Junior Her research focuses on literacy achievement in the elementary years with family involvement.

Through Early Childhood Studies, Lorna has been active in the child care community, working with young children in the preschool years up to senior elementary. Her volunteer work at the Royal Ontario Museum has given her opportunities to facilitate small and large group interactions with artefacts and history lessons. These experiences have furthered her belief that in order to learn, the lessons must be meaningful and relevant.

Lorna has participated in several professional development workshops, including Full Day Kindergarten training, Bullying prevention and technological awareness conference, TRIBES community building (incorporating social skills into academic learning), and is currently enrolled to begin Special Education part 1. Lorna currently volunteers with 1st and 2nd graders in Peel, implementing literacy lessons, and providing small group support as needed.

Lorna is enthusiastic and believes that by creating lessons that are rooted in research and designed to be meaningful and enjoyable to the learner, students will have great opportunity to flourish and reach new personal bests.

Lorne completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Westerns Ontario in 2007, receiving an Honours Specialization in Political Science. He is currently completing his Masters of Teaching at the University of Toronto, OISE with a focus on kindergarten to grade 6 students. Lorne has over 10 years of experience working with children of all needs and abilities as both a camp counsellor and swim instructor. He is a passionate, caring and understanding educator who will work with a child’s specific learning needs and interests to ensure the best learning experience possible. His pedagogy is to enable students to find the best within themselves and to discover a genuine love of learning. Lorne has a passion for fitness and enjoys practicing mindfulness through yoga, playing sports and attending live music concerts.

Louise is a current Elementary Teacher for the Toronto District School Board. With over 10 years experience working in the field, she holds a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education from Ryerson University and Bachelors of Education from Queen’s University. Her positive enthusiasm reinforces learning strategies that engage students.

In the past, Louise was the Director of Adapted and Integrated Services with the City of Toronto. Working alongside children and youth with disabilities, she developed; strong program teaching skills, insight, interpersonal knowledge and the ability to understand complex brain development.

Aside from teaching Louise enjoys a healthy and active lifestyle. She is certified in Les Mills BODYPUMP and RPM, teaching group exercise various Goodlife locations.

I graduated from the University of Oviedo, Spain with a Master’s degree in Teaching Spanish as a second language. Throughout my undergraduate education, I had the opportunity to enrich my life by studying French in Belgium and France. Through these experiences I understood how difficult it is studying a second language and how frustrated you feel when you cannot communicate with local people. These feelings encouraged me to teach Spanish in a dynamic and helpful way, where students do not encounter the same fears as I previously had.

With this in mind, through my internships as a Spanish teacher, I was lucky to have the chance to share my passion of teaching Spanish with students in different levels of learning and varying ages in a multi-cultural environment.

Also, my Degree in Modern languages, maiored in French Language and Culture gave me the chance to work as a teacher assistant in French Alliance where I taught French to children, teenagers and adults from basic to intermediate levels of learning.

I treat each student individual encouraging them to work in their weakness but use their strengths to their advantage. I love to bring French and Spanish culture to the class which makes students more interested in the new language.

Lucia is an enthusiastic and patient educator that specializes in STEM, specifically in the sciences (biology) and social sciences. Lucia earned her Honours Bachelor of Science from the University of Toronto and is currently completing her final year of teachers education at Niagara University (Ontario Campus). She has been tutoring for 5 years in both private and structured settings. Lucia aims to continue sharing her genuine passion for STEM and social sciences through inspiring and supporting the learning needs of all students. Lucia believes that through a wholistic framework and ongoing dialogue between all stakeholders, students can achieve greatness and thrive.

I believe teaching offers a unique chance to make a difference. Every child has the potential to learn and succeed and I work hard to ensure that my students are engaged and that their voice is heard. I am passionate and excited about teaching French and History in a way that is authentic and meaningful. My main goal is to have a balance between making learning relevant for my students, encouraging them to connect what they are learning to their own experiences, and equipping them with transferrable skills for life. For the past 12 years, I have been using my passion for the French language to work as a tutor, interpreter and a tour leader, taking groups of students to various Canadian destinations! As a graduate of the IB program, I have learned about the importance of developing strong communication and critical thinking skills, and this is something I focus on with my students as well. When I am not teaching, I love spending time with my family, cooking, and going for walks in the park with my dog, Romeo.

Lydia is always searching for opportunities to integrate her love of writing with her ongoing visual arts practice. She believes that a holistic approach to academic disciplines is the most effective strategy toward fostering a lifelong love of learning in her students.

Lydia graduated summa cum laude from McMaster University’s Honours Bachelor of Fine Arts program with a minor in English. At the conclusion of her undergraduate degree, she was granted the Ignition Award for Distinction in her program. She went on to graduate from Western University’s Master of Fine Arts program, in which she was awarded the Dean’s Entrance Scholarship, Chair’s Entrance Scholarship, as well as three Graduate Research Scholarships throughout the program’s duration. She is currently a teacher candidate at Brock University with teachables in English and Visual Art.

Lydia has experience with lesson planning, differentiated instruction, and designing assessments in both senior/intermediate English and Visual Art. She is also familiar with the corresponding curricula at the junior level. Lydia’s priorities include: fostering writing strategies for legibility and conciseness, employing invisible and ongoing assessments for- and as- learning, rubric deconstruction, information chunking, and executive function reinforcement (organizational strategies, focusing techniques, task-shifting strategies, self-monitoring, etc.)

When she is not teaching or tutoring, she spends her time reading, making art, and volunteering for arts organizations in Hamilton and London, Ontario.

Lyndee’s educational background includes: a Bachelor of Arts in English Language and Literature from Brock University; a Professional Graduate Diploma in Education from Strathclyde University, where she learned the Curriculum for Excellence in Scotland; an Additional Qualification (AQ) Course- Special Education Part I, from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education and an AQ Course- Reading Part I from Western University. She is a certified teacher for the Glasgow City Council and after returning to Canada, received her equivalency with the Ontario College of Teachers and became certified to teach Junior and Primary Divisions.

Lyndee has experience in all grade levels from Kindergarten to Grade 6 as an in-class tutor and as an after-school tutor. She also has experience running a before and after School program for Kindergartens and School-Age children. Appealing to the child’s interest by personalizing the learning experience, Lyndee makes learning fun, engaging and memorable.

Maddy graduated from the University of Ottawa where she majored in French and minored in Theatre and it is also where she received her Bachelor of Education. She has just recently completed her French as a Second Language Specialist qualification.

Maddy has been a full-time French immersion elementary school teacher with the Peel Board since 2012, teaching grades 3, 4, 5, and 6 in various subjects. Her passion for teaching is obvious and she strives to make learning fun for her students every day.

Magda has 11 years of teaching experience as an elementary French Immersion teacher. She completed her undergraduate degree, which includes a specialization in French, and her Bachelor of Education degree here in Ontario. Over the course of her career, she has worked with a variety of students, differentiating her instruction based on level, needs and goals.

Marianne is currently employed by the Toronto District School Board as a Designated Early Childhood Educator in the Kindergarten Program. In her 5 years with the TDSB, so far, she has had the opportunity to grow as an educator and expand her learning and develop new and interesting ways to plan and teach to engage children based on their interests and individual developmental needs. This has helped to ensure that the children have a safe and fun environment where they feel comfortable to take risks and explore challenges to further develop their skills, grow as learners and reach their optimal potential. She is a strong believer in the “growth mindset” approach. She is trained in Early Reading Intervention which helps to give children the skills and strategies necessary to become fluent and competent readers with one on one instruction. Prior to joining the school board, she worked in childcare for 9 years after graduating from George Brown College at Ryerson. She worked with age groups from preschool to school age, which helped her passion for being a part of a child’s learning journey blossom as well as develop strong bonds with families working together to support their children in various ways. She is also a dedicated Grade 4 and 5 soccer and slow-pitch coach for her schools’ teams allowing her to encourage teamwork, positive self-image, perseverance and sportsmanship which are pivotal to becoming a valuable member of society. Marianne loves the outdoors and exploring nature, supporting Toronto’s sports teams and baking for family and friends. She also practices yoga and mindfulness. She even facilitated an after-school “Calm and Cool Kids Club” promoting self-regulation and well-being.

Marissa completed her undergraduate degree at the University of Western Ontario in 2017 with an Honours Specialization in History and major in Religious Studies. She is currently working towards her Master of Teaching degree from University of Toronto/OISE as an Intermediate/Senior teacher qualified from grades 7 through 12. Marissa has 10 years of experience working with children of all ages, and students with special needs as a swimming instructor. Through her experience as a swimming instructor, Marissa has found her love for teaching and helping students reach their full potential. From her practicum experiences, she has also worked in special education classrooms, working closely with students who have learning disabilities and other exceptionalities. To further her professional development, Marissa had taken workshops in TRIBES to better create inclusive classrooms and safe learning environments. She is a compassionate and cooperative educator who brings dedication and enthusiasm to her students. Marissa also believes that the quality of education a person receives is crucial in bringing out that person’s potential and that all individuals should have access to quality learning and care. Marissa has a passion for swimming, baking, makeup, and mindfulness.

Marjoree has a Bachelor of Education degree and both an undergraduate Bachelor of Arts’ degree and Diploma in Early Childhood Education. She primarily works in the primary/junior division and in Special Education in developmentally delayed and multiple exceptionalities’ classrooms. She has the additional teaching qualification in Special Education part 1 with future plans to complete part 2 and the specialist course to become a Special Education teacher. She has a wide variety of experience working with children of different age groups in different settings from day cares to Montessori, private, and public schools both in-person and online. Marjoree is a mother of a 5 year old daughter with ASD and a 2 year old son. Her hobbies and interests include playing in recreational and competitive softball leagues during the spring and summer season, fitness boxing, and travelling abroad.

Mateenah joins Prep Academy with an extensive Health Sciences background, a formidable English underpinning as well as years of experience working with children and youth. She completed her Secondary education at De La Salle College “Oaklands” in Toronto, ON, developing bilingual proficiency as well as a love for science, writing and literature. In 2016, she graduated from Wilfrid Laurier University in Waterloo, ON with an Honours Degree in Biological Sciences (with minors in Chemistry and Psychology). Since graduating, Mateenah continues to quench her thirst for scientific knowledge in her ongoing contributions to the healthcare community- she conducts research at the St. Michael’s Hospital Li Ka Shang Knowledge Institute and is in the process of writing two scientific papers with the intent of publication. Over the years, Mateenah has imparted her knowledge and skills set to many others in various ways: Growing up, she devoted her time to instructing youth at her own Karate Dojo as a 2nd dan Sensei (not including her own training afterwards), organizing and leading in dojo maneuvers, katas and sparring demonstrations. Concurrently, she assisted at her local community center as a youth basketball program counselor (responsible for systematizing basic drills, organizing warm ups and workouts, running games between teams, and guiding children through various communication/leadership activities each week). Today, Mateenah co-lectures non-technical skills to post-graduates (first year and second year general surgery and gastrointestinal residents) affiliated with the University of Toronto’s Endoscopic Simulation Course. She also mentors students in a wide capacity of subjects as a part of Prep Academy Tutors (West Toronto), ranging from the sciences to mathematics to all aspects of English and reading comprehension as well as SSAT preparation. Moreover, after receiving specialized training in D.I. (Direct Instruction, Siegfried Engelmann’s highly interactive teacher-directed approach to learning), she also offers structured one-on-one teaching to children with diverse learning needs. Max has been in the education field for about 15 years. He has experience in teaching students from Kindergarten to Grade 8 and is a French/English speaker from Montreal. Max is a French Immersion Teacher and is currently teaching Grade 8. He has a Master’s Degree in Education and an Undergraduate degree in French Studies from Glendon York University, where he also obtained a bilingual certificate. Max’s specialty is French, but he also teaches English, Math, History and Geography and Science. One on one teaching is very effective in helping students to gain confidence and helping them to reinforce on learned concepts. Students get a helping hand on developing organizational skills, good working habits and they take ownership on their learning. Meenu has over ten years of tutoring and teaching experience mathematics to university, college and high school students. She possesses a Master’s degree in Mathematics, Bachelor’s degree with Physics, Chemistry and Math as major and Ontario College of teacher’s certification for senior Mathematics. She holds great knowledge of the Ontario Curriculum in the science and mathematics areas as she has been a summer school teacher and a tutor at many post-secondary schools in Toronto. Meghan is Primary/Junior Certified and is an OCT certified teacher with the Toronto District School Board. Meghan has her specialist in special education and has been teaching with the school board for 4 years.

Melanie’s passion for education stemmed from a very young age. Over the years, she has deepened her skill set as a camp counsellor, a daycare volunteer and a director at Peace by PEACE; a non profit organization that delivers an eleven week conflict resolution curriculum to students across Toronto. A recent graduate, Melanie was hired by the Toronto Catholic District School Board as a French Immersion teacher. Her focus as a teacher has been the primary and junior grades, with most of her teaching experience at the third grade level. These experiences have informed and shaped Melanie’s pedagogical practice and mission to see each of her students reach their utmost potential. When she’s not in the classroom you can find Melanie playing with her bunny, getting active or hanging out with friends.

Melanie has a Master of Science in Biology received at York University. As a Master’s candidate, she was a teaching assistant for several first and third year biology laboratory based courses. During her years as a teaching assistant, Melanie instructed classrooms and also taught students one on one. She had to plan mini-lessons, teach laboratories, assign quizzes and homework, and grade university level papers. Melanie also received her Bachelor of Science in Biology at York University. During her undergraduate she took and excelled at various biology and chemistry courses. Melanie enjoys writing essays and almost received a minor in philosophy due to her love for writing. Melanie loved her years as a teaching assistant and enjoys teaching because she loves to play a role in helping a student learn. During her free time she plays recreational soccer and spends time doing puzzles with her nephew. She also currently works at a veterinary clinic in hopes of attending veterinary school.

Michael has a Masters in Education and an Honors degree from U of T. He has been a teacher at the Peel school board for 13 years. He is qualified to teach k-5 and has experience with special education students in class and online. He is well liked by his fellow teachers and most importantly the students. Michael has experience teaching one on one with various types of learners including those whom have have special needs. He is very patient and supportive of his students.

Michael completed his Bachelor of Education program at OISE (U of T) for Physics/Math. He has also taken a Chemistry AQ course so that he can teach 3 different subjects. Michael works for Prep Academy in his spare time, primarily teaching math and science to high school students. He is looking to fill his schedule during the time between university and enrollment as a high school teacher and gain valuable experience in the meanwhile. Michael also speaks some Ukrainian, and in his spare time he enjoys cooking and watching movies.

Michaela has a strong passion for education, child psychology, and the French language. Michaela’s teaching philosophy is grounded in her dedication to the education of the whole child, providing a secure learning environment, inquiry and play-based learning, and ongoing professional development. She received her Bachelor of Arts with honours at Western University for Psychology and Criminology. Michaela will soon graduate with a Master of Arts in Child Study and Education from the prestigious Dr. Eric Jackman Institute of Child Study at OISE of the University of Toronto. She is qualified to teach the Primary/Junior divisions and French as she has received her Additional Qualification: French as a Second Language Part 1.

Michaela has worked with children for many years as a tutor, camp counsellor and caregiver. She has completed several practicum placements that have given her the experience and knowledge to effectively educate children in all learning areas. Michaela ensures equity and inclusion in her teaching practice by differentiating instruction so that every child can achieve their fullest potential and be successful.

Outside of education, Michaela enjoys spending her time with family and friends, playing boards games and card games, practicing yoga, and has recently begun learning an instrument!

In 2019, Michelle graduated with a Bachelor of Education from the University of Prince Edward Island for the K-6 primary/junior division. Beyond the B.Ed, Michelle has a Bachelor of Science in Biology and a Masters in French, both from McMaster University. She is very passionate about science and building children’s curiosity and understanding of the world around them. Michelle has been a lifelong student of the French language, starting in kindergarten in a French Immersion program and continuing up to her French Masters. Her thesis explored works from the Enlightenment Period in 18th century France where scientists, mathematicians, writers, and theologists collaborated to further their knowledge. Michelle believes that integrating subjects and making cross-curricular connections are ideal for deeper learning. While she is qualified to teach K-6, Michelle was a French TA during her Masters and is capable of tutoring up to grade 12 French.

Michelle places a great emphasis on getting to know her students. This helps her identify what they need to succeed and how she can help them grow, achieve, and learn. She aims to plan and teach activities that account for multiple learning styles, abilities, and interests to ensure effective learning. She is a big believer in the Head, Heart, and Hands approach to teaching, making sure to address academic learning, emotional development, and social skills.

She has a lot of experience teaching English, ESL, and teaching children to read and write for the first time. She also has experience teaching Mathematics at various elementary levels, as well as essay writing for all levels.

Michelle loves working with students individually so she can modify her lessons to suit her students’ learning styles. She believes in creating a positive learning environment where questions are encouraged and likes working closely together with parents to help support their children’s individual needs. Michelle loves traveling, drawing, painting, and reading classic novels.

Michelle is an Ontario certified teacher in the intermediate-senior age group (Grade 7-12) for Mathematics and Science-Physics. She completed a double honours degree in Mathematics and Physics with a minor in American Sign Language before becoming a teacher. One of her goals is to be inclusive with her teaching, and help every student enjoy their learning experience.

During her undergraduate degree, Michelle learned American Sign Language (and was exposed to many other signed languages). She hopes to use this knowledge in her teaching, and would be happy to work with Deaf and Hard of Hearing individuals, as well as any others who would benefit from visual or hands-on communication. Michelle has certificates in communication (CDAC webinar) and mental health literacy (uBC) and actively works towards better education and opportunities for all students.

In her free time, Michelle enjoys indoor gardening, bullet journaling, board games, and video games. She loves to solve puzzles and uses these skills and ideas through her teaching (and learning) to help make learning fun for everyone

Mira has been teaching for over 9 years, after graduating from Canisius College with her MEd. She has taken many Additional Qualification courses including Spec. Ed., Reading and Kindergarten and is currently working as a Kindergarten teacher in Toronto. Mira has experience working as a Spec. Ed. and ESL teacher with students from Grade 2 to Grade 8. She has worked with many children that are on IEPs, with exceptionalities such as ADHD, Gifted and ASD. Mira is qualified to tutor children in all areas, from Kindergarten to Grade 8.

Mo has a background in Chemistry, Biochemistry and Biology. He has earned a Bachelor of Science and Bachelor of Education degree from York University.

Mo also has a Specialist in Guidance and Career Education. He is a member of the Science Teachers Association of Ontario. He also enjoys teaching mathematics and values making mathematics more visual and accessible to students.

He has taught over 15 years students from primary to secondary.

Mo enjoys hiking, constantly learning about and enjoying nature, visiting historic buildings and participating in historical tours.

Mohammedayaz obtained his PhD in animal sciences from India. After completion of his PhD, he was teaching animal sciences for 4 years in the M. S. University of Baroda, one of the most prestigious science institutes in India. Due to his excellent teaching skills, he also produced many educational shows with national television of India. Later Dr. Mohammedayaz worked in Copenhagen university, Denmark as a scientist, trying to understand the bone diseases. Due to his flair for teaching, he later joined in European Molecular biology laboratories – Germany, preparing teaching courses for microscopy. Dr. Mohammedayaz moved to Toronto in 2018, teaching Biology and Chemistry for grade 12 students at an international school. At present he is working as a Postdoctoral fellow in Sunnybrooks hospital on bone cancer projects. To quench his thirst for teaching, he is looking for motivated students who dream of building a career in science but struggle at fundamentals. With his practical knowledge of biology and chemistry, friendly teaching skills and mind mapping techniques, he aims to nurture the future students of Medicine, Engineering and Science.

Monica received her Bachelor of Arts at Ryerson University for Early Childhood Studies. Monica has recently completed her Master of Teaching at the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education with a specialization in Primary/Junior. Her research focuses on supporting English Language Learners in Full-Day Kindergarten.

Through her Early Childhood Studies education, Monica had the opportunity to work in various child care setting and schools, which allowed her to enhance her skills in child development. Monica has completed several student teaching experiences with students in the primary/junior grades.

Monica has participated in a variety of professional development workshops, including Celebrating Linguistic Diversity and TRIBES, which focuses on community building in the classroom. Monica has recently completed her Special Education part 1 additional qualification, and is currently enrolled in Mathematics Part 1.

Monica is an energetic person who enjoys working with children. She believes that when a positive learning environment and individualized instruction and tools are provided, success will be achieved. On her spare time, Monica enjoys spending time with family and friends, traveling and swimming.

Nadia Graduated with Honours from the University of Guelph-Humber in Early Childhood Education in 2020. She most recently in 2022 graduated with honours from York Universities Bachelors of Education program specializing in Primary Junior education. Nadia is passionate about continuing her teaching skills ,and her own learning. She is currently in the middle of completing her masters of teaching and learning through the University of Ottawa.

Nadia is a registered early childhood educator (RECE) and an Ontario certified teacher. Throughout my time studying in post- secondary education I have completed multiple placements working alongside experienced educators and mentors in the field of education. Nadia is very passionate about teaching young children through observation, listening, and interactive active play, that is focused on the interest of children in my care. I work hard to find new ways of working with children. She strives for success/ learning breakthroughs in all aspects of children’s everyday experiences and development of social, emotional, physical, and cognitive well-being.

Nancy is an Ontario Certified Teacher (OCT) with over 35 years teaching experience. She graduated from the University of Toronto with a both Bachelor of Arts in English Literature and a Bachelor of Education. Nancy also has a Specialist in Special Education and has spent 20 years working with students with varies types of Learning Disabilities.

Nancy has worked closely with the interdisciplinary teams of various schools and is proficient in the development, implementation and understanding of Individual Education Plans (IEP). Nancy has a thorough knowledge of the Special Education Policies and Regulations as outlined in the Ontario Ministry of Education, and has sat on many Identification, Placement, and Review Committees (IPRCs).

Natalia has a Master’s degree in Education, specializing in Curriculum Policy and Teacher Development from the University of Toronto. She has a passion for all things education, and has been tutoring with Prep Academy Tutors since 2017.

Natalie graduated from The University of Western Ontario, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in psychology and Bachelor of Education with specialization in primary/junior education. Natalie has taken Special Education and Reading Part 1 as her additional qualifications in teaching.

Natalie is ECE certified and has over ten years of teaching and practicum experience with preschool and school-aged children, including being knowledgeable on Montessoi and play-based education. Natalie is highly knowledgeable about the Ontario Elementary Curriculum and Growing Success documents which she frequents when lesson planning. Her desire is to use the skills and experience she has acquired to improve student learning and academic performance using inclusive and culturally relevant educational techniques and practices. Natalie believes to help a student reach their academic goals, it is crucial for educators to build a strong rapport with the children to understand their individual learning style and personal interests to encourage motivated learners. Nataliya graduated from Dnepropetrovsk State University of Ukraine with a Masters degree in Physics and Bachelors degree in Mathematics, and earned a Bachelors degree in Education, which was later upgraded at York university, Toronto. Nataliya is certified by the Ontario College of Teachers to teach both Intermediate and Senior Divisions: Science- Physics and Intermediate division: mathematics.

Nicole is a Primary/Junior Ontario certified teacher. She graduated from York University with a bachelors in Sociology in 2011. After Univeristy, Nicole attended Niagra Univeristy in Toronto for her bachelors of Education degree in 2013 and ended up on the Deans list at graduation. Nicole has been working for the PDSB for the past 4 years as a kindergarten and supply teacher. She has lots of experience with the Ontario curriculum, and aims to make sure each child gives their full potential.

Nicole always makes sure she creates a positive and safe environment. She strives to make her students feel confident and successful to achieve their goals they set out for themselves.

Nicole graduated from York University in 2021, with her Bachelor Degree in Children’s Studies and a Bachelor of Education primary/junior. Nicole joins Prep Academy with an extensive background working with youth in an educational context, both in and out of the classroom. She completed her undergraduate degree in 2013 at the University of Toronto in Life Sciences – majoring in Human Biology and double minoring in Physiology and Psychology. After taking a year off to travel, Nicole returned to pursue a Studio Arts certificate from Seneca College. She discovered her passion lay in education and making science learning accessible and enjoyable for all, using visual arts as a means to accomplish this. She then spent the following two years at the University of Toronto’s OISE pursuing a Masters of Teaching, graduating with qualifications in Junior/Intermediate Science and an additional qualification in Senior Biology. Her research focused on the effectiveness of Problem-based learning (PBL) strategies in intermediate science education. During this time Nicole worked as a Teaching Assistant at the University of Toronto teaching a second year Neuroscience course. Nik graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Science in 2016. He then completed the Master of Teaching program at OISE, with a specialization in Junior/Intermediate. He has had many years of experience tutoring students in Science and Math of all grade levels in both English and in French. As a graduate of the IB program, he is fully aware of the rigours involved in completing high school on a positive note. He has also worked with younger children across various French schools in Toronto, as his bilingual skills have allowed him to work with many wonderful students. While tutoring, he strives to foster engaging and personalized one-on-one interactive lessons while helping students gain the confidence they need to succeed in school. Oz Salam is a teacher with the Peel District School Board. He graduated from York University in 2014 with a Bachelor Degree with Honours in History. He then went to York University for Teachers College and graduated from the Urban Diversity Program in 2015 with his Bachelor’s of Education. He joined the PDSB in 2017 and in the 5 years since has supplied in every grade from K-8, as well as completed 7 separate LTO (Long Term Occasional) contracts in Grades 6, 7, and 8 with the longest being a full year. He has continued to improve his skills by taking Additional Qualifications courses, taking his Primary AQ in 2018 and is looking to take more. He is currently working towards a permanent position with the board and has tutored previously prior to the pandemic. I am currently finishing my final semester in teachers college at Brock University and have completed my undergrad in early childhood education. Patricia has taught full-time for the past 17 years with the Toronto District School Board. Over those years, she has participated in several professional development workshops, including Full Day Kindergartend Training, Reading Recovery workshop, Reading assessment for French Immersion students, French Immersion Literacy, Math manipulative, Jr Math strategies, How to support Students in EQAO years, and How to build effective 3-part Math lessons.

Patricia is native French Canadian, who expose her students to the richness of the French Language. She is an enthusiastic, and compassionate teacher. Patricia strongly believes that a safe, caring and inclusive learning environment is essential in student learning.

Peter graduated from the University of Waterloo with a degree in Mechanical Engineering and worked for 25 years in the Canadian Aerospace industry as a project leader designing robotic systems. As a technical lead, a third of every day was immersed in science and mathematics, applying them to problem solving. He also volunteered for several years as an industrial mentor to support the Marsville program in middle school, and a FIRST Robotics Competition team in high school. After raising 3 children, all of whom are now past 20 years old, interest in developing systems evolved into a passion for developing young minds and watching children develop their potential, so Peter went to Lakehead University and in 2011 received his Bachelor of Education with a Math specialty. He has since added numerous additional qualification courses including Special Education, Communication needs with Autism, and Kindergarten. He is familiar with the Jump Math program and the ideas of researcher Marian Small, all aimed at making math more accessible to students. Peter has volunteered extensively in HSP and other Special Education classes, and has worked for the Toronto District School Board since 2013 as a supply teacher for elementary schools – Kindergarten through grade 8. He has also provided home instruction in grades 9-10 Math and Science to a number of students, for the TDSB, as well as tutoring individuals in the junior and intermediate grades in Math and Language. It has been said that children generally come into kindergarten with a healthy and confident sense of mathematics, that much fear and phobias in math are learned behavior that children pickup as they get older. Peter believes that math should be accessible to all, and as such, he strives to bring children an awareness of their own inner math sensibilities and build from these.

Pieter grew up between North America and Europe (Canada, USA, France, UK). He went to Middlebury College in Verrnont for his BA in Spatial Analysis and Human Ecology and to School for International Training, also in Vermont, for his MA in International Administration, and Cross-Cultural Teaching & Training. After work in cultural exchange and education, tourism, theatre performance and others, he has been teaching in Ontario at the high school and intermediate levels, with Ontario Certification.
The arts and humanities, and more specifically Extended French and Immersion have been foremost. Positions in international and private schools, as well as the Toronto District School Board, and in Ontario & France have also included the IB Theory of Knowledge and the IGCSE from the UK.
Interests include hiking, skiing, sailing, horseback riding, cycling, writing, photography, and environmental issues.
He likeshing for it’s involvement with young people who are discovering who they are, gaining skills, perspectives and structures which will serve them for many years. He finds that the energy of students, and his own, form a synergy of discovery for all involved. Preeti Sadana Has a Bachelors degree in Physics and Education. Her Teachable subjects are Math and Science. She is teaching Science from Grade 4 to 9 at present in a Private school. She has a good knowledge of Ontario curriculum. She has recently done Senior Math AQ from Queen’s University.

Raeanne is a passionate, caring and supportive teacher with a Bachelor of Education degree from Niagara University and a degree in Children Studies from York University. Through her courses, volunteer and teaching experiences, Raeanne has had the opportunity to gain a deeper understanding of the diverse learning strengths, styles, needs and cultures of children. Ranjani earned her Masters in Education degree from the University of Arizona, USA in 2015. She holds valid teaching certificates in physics from Arizona and California in the USA. She enjoys teaching and learning with students. She has experience teaching elementary and high school science for 2 years.

Ranjani also has research experience in the field of fuel cells for after completing her Masters in Materials Science degree and Bachelors in Physics degree in India. She worked at a Fuel Cell Research organization (Government of India) for 3 years prior to teaching. She believes that her experiences will help develop different perspectives to understanding and teaching physics/ science to youngsters and children.

She recently moved to Toronto and is looking to continue her teaching career. She has two dogs and loves going for walks with them. She loves to organize her home whenever she can.

Rebecca received her Honours Bachelor of Arts degree from the University of Toronto followed by a Bachelor of Education degree, specializing in the primary and junior areas, from the Ontario Institute for Studies in Education. In addition, she has completed the Special Education Additional Qualification course and has her Certificate of Bilingual Studies in French Immersion. She always wanted to become an elementary school teacher, and has such a strong passion for teaching and helping others. Rebecca has been working in elementary school classrooms and tutoring since 2008, and has experience working with students ranging from junior kindergarten through grade eight. Rebecca is also a skilled academic and organizational coach for students in the senior grade levels. She enjoys helping students success by working with them on skills such as note taking, study habits, calendaring and sequencing of tasks. Rebecca loves working with students one-on-one in order to truly meet their needs, build strong relationships, and create unique program plans geared to each student’s personality, interests, and learning style. Rebecca is a trained SSAT coach and enjoys guiding students through this test taking process. She moved to Sydney Australia, to complete her undergraduate degree at the University of Western Sydney, in Social Science, with a minor in Biology. After completing her undergraduate degree, she moved to British Columbia and worked at the Ahousaht Youth Cultural Centre, in a remote indigenous community of the coast of Vancouver Island. It was during her stay in Ahousaht that Rebecca discovered her passion for teaching and working with children and youth. Having decided to pursue her teaching career, Rebecca returned to Australia to complete a Graduate Diploma in Education at Murdoch University, specializing in Humanities and Science at the Intermediate and Senior level. Rebecca remained in Western Australia as a fully employed teacher with the Department of Education, and taught in various schools around the South West for 8 years. Rebecca taught students from grades 3-12 in the subject areas of Humanities, Science, Math, Health and Career Education as well as led and mentored students one on one to improve literacy and life skills.

Renee is an Ontario Certified Teacher at the primary and junior level. She graduated with Honours from Guelph-Humber with her degree and diploma in Early Childhood Studies. She has several years of experience working with children through volunteering at a number of schools, working at a Montessori daycare, and previous tutoring opportunities. Ryan is an OCT Certified Teacher who graduated with an Honours Bachelor in Physical Education and a Bachelor of Education from Brock University. He is a passionate HCDSB High School Teacher with a specialist in Biology and is currently teaching Science at Corpus Christi High School. Ryan has previously been a Special Education Resource Teacher where he helped his students build skills that helped them to be successful in High School. Sadhna is an Ontario certified teacher (OCT) with almost 30 years of experience of teaching. She completed her Master’s degree in Early Childhood Education from Daemen College Buffalo, New York, U.S.A. and has worked for the Peel District School Board. She also has taught internationally in Asia, Middle East and Canada; educating children from various backgrounds. Saida graduated from Ryerson University, where she received her Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education. Saida received her Bachelors of Education degree from York University. She is OCT certified and has experience in the field of education for over ten years. She has experience working with children ages 4-12 and has taught in both the public and private education sector both in Canada and abroad. As for her personal education philosophy she strongly believes in inquiry based learning. Saida believes in transparency, and open communication & dialogue.

Samantha completed her Bachelor of Arts at the University of Waterloo, with a major in counselling and a minor in anthropology. A lover of learning and education, she completed her Masters of Science in Education in New York with a thesis on Best Practice Methods for English Language Learners. She is an Ontario Certified Teacher at the primary/junior level, and has experience in the classroom, as well as one on one as a kindergarten-grade 6 tutor. Samantha is patient, warm and open; providing a learning environment that is tailored to each child’s unique and wonderful personality. In her spare time, she reads, writes children stories, practices yoga and is on a dragon boat team. She also loves to travel.

Samantha recently graduated this Spring 2021 from Brock University’s Concurrent Education program, receiving her Bachelors of Child and Youth Studies, alongside her Bachelor of Education. During her time at Brock, she volunteered with the Learning Disabilities Association of Niagara with their reading r.o.c.k.s program. She also interned with the Brock Learning Lab, tutoring primary/junior students. Samantha has spent the past five summers working in Muskoka at a day camp. She began as a camp counsellor and worked her way up to camp director by her third summer.

Outside of teaching, Samantha spends her time taking dance classes, yoga and sewing. She loves working with children and wants to instill her love of learning into her students!

Sandra is an Ontario Certified Teacher. She grew up in Toronto, completing an Undergraduate Degree in Kinesiology with a minor in Biology, at The University of Toronto. Sandra grew up with a love of music, dance, sport and human functions and took the opportunity to explore her field following the completion of her degree. She was an athletic therapist for the Special Olympics and volunteering included coaching various sports at Variety Village and teaching Zumba in Toronto. It was during her volunteer work at Variety Village and at various schools that Sandra discovered her passion for teaching and working with children. When she decided to pursue teaching as a career Sandra moved to North Bay and completed a Bachelor of Education at Nipissing University. It is through teaching that Sandra has been able to foster her love of the Arts, Science and Mathematics. During the summer months, Sandra travels and teaches dance. In addition she has taken various additional qualification courses such as literacy, that helps her keep up to date with the curriculum, which is ever-changing. In her spare time Sandra works one-on-one with children ranging from 5 years through middle school. She has supported the improvement of their reading, writing, vocabulary and math skills. Sandra believes that by building a strong relationship with her students she is better able to meet their needs and grow their learning. As a teacher mentor to University and high school students, Sandra continues to develop strategies for working with children. She finds these experiences enjoyable and extremely rewarding.

Sandra graduated from the University of Toronto with a Bachelor of Physical Health and Education (KIN) degree. She completed her teaching internship in Toronto, where she taught Grades 5-8. At Nipissing University, she graduated with a Bachelor of Education in the Junior/Intermediate grade levels. She has since qualified at the Primary level. She then was given the opportunity to teach in a middle school science classroom at Kane Middle School. Currently, with 20+ years of experience at Silverthorn C.S., Sandra has taught in a grade seven and eight classroom in addition to teaching Music, Dance, Literacy, and the Social Sciences.

Alongside having years of tutoring experience, Sandra also tutors students where she fosters an engaging, personalized one-on-one interactive lesson. Additionally, has AQs (additional qualifications) in Special Education, Music, and Literacy. Sandra truly believes that engaging students using their curiosity and interests is crucial in helping them gain the confidence they require to succeed. In her spare time, Sandra enjoys long distance running, travelling, reading, dancing, as well as spending time with her friends and family.

After graduating from the University of Guelph with two honours English thesis’ completed, Sara went on to earn a specialist diploma in Children’s Media. During this first career she did everything from the corporate to the production side of some incredible- and educational- television shows. However, after completing some spectacular projects, Sara realized that she was never as passionate about television as she was about education. Sara missed academics and wanted to do the teaching herself. Sara is completing a Masters of Teaching at OISE, and is very excited for teaching to be apart of her life full time.

While she has a background in Kindergarten and Ballet teaching, she is also very passionate about other subjects and believes it is very important for all students to feel confident in their reading, writing and meaning-making. Sara also feels that understanding history is a large part of making meaning out of what we see and hear about every day.

In her spare time you can find Sara planning adventures, leading Girl Guide Unites and digging through local bookstores. Her passion for stories, travel and wellness are rooted in her own teaching practice, and she hopes to bring this knowledge and experience to help tutoring pupils as well.

As a Google Certified Educator, Sara van Beers has extensive training and knowledge regarding assistive technology strategies, programming and skills. She worked as a Technology Consultant for the Halton School Board for over a year before becoming a full time classroom teacher.

Sara has a passion for assistive technology and ensuring accessibility and equitability for students. Through the use of technology, many students not only are able to produce work that would have otherwise been too much of a challenge, but are also much more confident in themselves and their abilities. Because of technology, students are not only able to thrive academically, but also develop critical executive functioning skills that are critical to academic success. Sara believes that with proper support, organization and strategies, any child can become successful.

For many students, applications and extensions can make all the difference in their learning. Simple, Cloud based and streamlined programs can make learning more accessible and easy to manage for students. Because Sara is a Google Educator, many of the programs she uses utilize Google’s platform. Programs such as Google Read & Write for voice to text and reading support, Mindomo for visual learners, Google Keep can give many students the basic and very beneficial support they need. Sara integrates the students learning profile and Psych-Ed (if applicable) to design a program that implements appropriate applications and tools for that student.

Sara has been a continuous and active member of the Prep Academy Tutors West for over a year! She grew up in the West end of Toronto and played for Swansea Girls Hockey and High Park soccer! She attended Brock University where she studied Child and Youth Studies and then attended Tyndale University where she completed her Bachelors of Education (Primary/Junior). Her educational philosophy is simple; that given the right tools and support, any child can become successful and reach their fullest potential.

Sara is currently working as a full-time primary special education teacher who works with students with various abilities and challenges such as learning disabilities, behavioural challenges, and Autism. Sara has extensive hands-on professional experience with students ranging from toddler to high school. Prior to becoming a full-time classroom teacher, she worked at a technology consultant for the Halton District School Board. In that role, she taught and implemented various assistive technology skills, programs and strategies to students who benefitted from technical support. This includes voice to text software, writing support, memory aids and digital math tools.

Sara continues to work with an extensive range of students both in ages and abilities. She continuously works to further develop best practices and implement appropriate strategies and programs that promote success and academic achievement.

Sarah has a Masters Degree in Child Study and Education from the University of Toronto. She has taught for over five years, specializing in literacy skills. She is a mother of two kindergarten age children. She loves art, music, nature and singing.

Sarah’s teaching career has spanned roles from the Head of Religious Studies and teaching English as a foreign language to teaching Social Sciences at Secondary Schools within the UK. She has over five years’ experience of teaching GCSE and A-Level Sociology while at St. Anne’s Catholic High School for Girls and Winchmore School in London, England. These experiences have enabled her to gain a thorough understanding of the subject, which is evidenced in her students’ excellent examination results.

She has completed a bacholors in Sociology and then a Masters in Social Research from Goldsmiths Univeristy of London (UK), which has given her an in-depth knowledge, which is beneficial for teaching Social Sciences and Humanities at intermediate and senior levels. She is also certified from the Ontario College of Teachers with good standing and is currently undertaking an MEd in Developmental Psychology and Education at the University of Toronto.

As a teacher and academic coach, she can motivate students of all abilities to make progress. To help achieve this she is sensitive to the needs of individual students and uses appropriately differentiated teaching and learning resources. Furthermore, the ablest learners are consistently stretched through stimulating and challenging learning activities.

Sarah also has excellent ICT skills and makes full use of Word, Excel, PowerPoint and interactive whiteboard

Hi! I’m Sarah-I have a Masters degree in Education, working towards my Ph.D in Sociology-I am interactive, life long learner, and feel that it is imperative that students feel ’empowered’ to learn and want to learn more.

Sarah recently graduated from the University of Western Ontario with a Masters of Professional Education degree focusing on Special and Inclusive Education. Prior to this, she attended the University of Windsor and completed an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree in History and Sociology with a minor in Biological Sciences. She went on to complete a Bachelor of Education degree focusing on Primary/Junior education. She has also completed an Additional Qualification course in Special Education.

Sarah has combined her educational experience with practical experiences that have helped develop her passion for teaching. Sarah has previously worked as an elementary math tutor and educational assistant for a public school board in Windsor, Ontario and continues working for a community organization as a respite provider and support worker for children with special needs, including autism. In this role, she assists children with developing their social skills, life skills and math and language skills.

Sarah has recently accepted an elementary occasional teaching position in Toronto and uses a variety of teaching methods in her lessons to ensure that the needs of all her students are met.

Serena has a Bachelor of Education and is currently completing her Master’s of Education specializing in Student Affairs and Higher Education. She is qualified to teach students K-12 and her teachables are in Intermediate Art, Senior Social Studies, and Teaching English Language Learners. Her goal as an educator is to build confidence and continue to facilitate growth. She is passionate about teaching executive-functioning skills and assisting students through transitional periods. Serena engages students with curriculum material in a meaningful way by ensuring her lesson plans are geared towards students’ personal interests. She involves students with hands-on activities, such as experiments, manipulatives, and physical activity. Serena strives to create a positive and engaging environment for all learners. 

Serena was born and raised in Toronto. She currently lives in Orillia, working at Lakehead University overseeing a team of post-secondary residence student staff. She enjoys infusing her interests in visual arts, fitness, and the outdoors into her work. By taking a holistic approach to education, she is inspired to support mental health and well-being. Serena hopes to share her passion for education with students and help them discover their true potential.

Shawna received her Honours Bachelor of Applied Science from the University of Guelph and then went on to do her Graduate Diploma of Teaching and Learning at the Christchurch College of Education in New Zealand. In addition, she is a Reading Specialist and is a qualified SSAT coach. Shawna has been teaching for over ten years and has had experience with most grades ranging from Kindergarten to Grade 8. Her goal is to always ensure learning is authentic and engaging. One of Shawna’s favourite things about teaching is seeing the “Aha moment.” She enjoys building positive relationships with students and figuring out various methods to meet their learning needs. When Shawna isn’t in the classroom she enjoys running, yoga, travelling and weekends up North.

Shilpa is an OCT certified professional with 6 years of diversified experience in teaching Mathematics and Science. She has a Master’s degree in Mathematics and a Bachelor’s degree in Education and Science & Mathematics.

Shubhayan earned his Master’s Degree in Applications of Mathematics at the Chennai Mathematical Institute in 2013 and is currently pursuing independent studies in Machine Learning and Data Science.

With over 6 years of experience in Mathematics teaching and tutoring at various levels ranging from middle school to professional education, he incorporates his love for the subject with a passion for sharing and exchanging knowledge to create a unique learning experience for each of his students.

His study resources extend beyond books and lectures, and out into the real world and online math learning platforms. He makes efficient use of tools like Desmos and Geogebra, and refers to captivating sources like Numberphile and 3Blue1Brown on YouTube for inspiration.

He is a former candidate delegate for the World Cube Association, and his special skills and interests include Cooking, Karaoke, Board Games and being able to solve a Rubik’s Cube in under twenty seconds, one handed.

Simon has a Master of Science degree (in Physiology) and a Hons. Bachelor of Science degree (majors in Psychology and Human Biology), both from the University of Toronto. His Master’s thesis was about how certain types of fat in the bloodstream are associated with cardiovascular disease risk factors in adolescents and how these associations can be used to predict later onset of cardiovascular disease. In his spare time, Simon enjoys spending time with his three-year old godson and with friends, reading, listening to music (country, choral, orchestra, folk, and rock), spending time outdoors (hiking, camping, and canoeing, for example), biking, and playing sports (especially soccer and racquet sports). Besides working as a tutor, Simon is studying for entrance exams, which he hopes will allow him to pursue a career as a physician or in a related field that applies ethics and problem-based thinking to ‘real life’ situations. He enjoys tutoring as he believes that education is a way of providing others the means for making better choices and living more fulfilling lives. He specifically enjoys tutoring children and teenagers, as he believes that teaching can be reciprocal, and that every so often, a child’s point of view can lend adults new and helpful perspectives on life.

Stephanie graduated from the University of Toronto, where she received her (Honours) Bachelor of Science in Neuroscience and Psychology and completed her Bachelor of Education with York University. Stephanie is an Ontario Certified Teacher, who is qualified to teach all divisions (Primary/Junior/Intermediate and Senior). She has taken Additional Qualification courses in Special Education, English, Social Sciences, and Physical Education, to strengthen her skill set. Stephanie has many years of experience tutoring, both in group settings and one on one. Her experience in the classroom includes students ranging from kindergarten to high school, including a year of teaching Core French. In addition, Stephanie has a background in teaching students with various exceptionalities such as autism, dyslexia, and ADHD. From her time working at Holland Bloorview she has gathered a variety of strategies and resources to help with meeting the learning needs of many diverse learners. Stephanie is also creative with a high interest in arts and sports which she uses to create a fun and interactive learning environment. She is an energetic teacher who aims to make learning engaging and meaningful to all her students.

Stephanie grew up in a French-speaking household where French was her first language. Her passion in teaching began when she was a young girl and she would ask her brother, cousins and friends to be her students as she “taught” class. Stephanie holds an Honours Bachelor of Arts degree with a major in English and two minors in French and Geography from the University of Toronto. Stephanie pursued her passion in teaching and went on to graduate from Niagara University where she completed a Bachelor of Professional Studies in Education in 2016 with Intermediate/Senior Qualifications. She then received additional qualifications to teach in both the Primary and Junior divisions as well as qualifications in Religious Education, Special Education, Reading, and Mathematics. In 2018, Stephanie received her IB Certification from The Florida Association of IB World Schools. Stephanie has taught for the past five years as a permanent full time teacher for the Dufferin Peel Catholic District School Board and has experience teaching a variety of subjects, including French, ranging from FDK to grade 12.

Stephanie believes in the importance of forming meaningful relationships with her students and working together to achieve their goals. She encourages her students to think critically and connect what they are learning to their own experiences and the real world.

When Stephanie is not teaching, she focuses her efforts on a lifestyle of health and fitness and enjoys spending time with her family and friends.
