Curriculum-Based Tutoring in Mississauga & Milton
Public schools in Mississauga and Milton are operated under the Peel and Halton District School Boards, which abides by the Ontario Curriculum as outlined by the Ontario Ministry of Education. Our team of local certified tutors in and around Mississauga and Milton provides tutoring based on this curriculum.
Our tutors are able to provide students with the extra tools they need to succeed in their standardized classrooms. If your child has gaps in knowledge, we return to the given topic to ensure they are able to comprehend the material and apply it in a classroom setting.
When students learn curriculum material at home before they learn it in the classroom, they are able to address this material more confidently.
Children between the ages of 0 to 14 account for 18% of the Peel Region population. This makes Peel Region home to the second-highest population of children in this age demographic.
Our tutors educate in alignment with the Ontario curriculum practiced by the Peel Region so that these students can receive any extra support they need to understand the course material. The Wilson Reading System: This program is designed with the specific educational needs of students with dyslexia and other language-based learning disabilities in mind. To improve literacy, this program uses the Orton-Gillingham approach. Through this program, we focus on multi-sensory instruction to improve and develop literacy retention and comprehension.
Direct Instruction Reading Mastery Program: This program is taught with a 90% focus on review to help students build long-term retention and speed up their learning. By focusing on small increments of learning in each lesson, we are able to teach students quickly and effectively.
By combining direct instruction with one-on-one tutoring, we help students struggling with a challenging subject to excel.

About
Hi. My name is Abisha. I completed my Bachelors of Education degree at Brock University. I have a background in Child and Youth Care and am certified by the Ontario College of Teachers. I obtained my Bachelors of Arts degree at Ryerson University majoring in Child and Youth Care and minoring in Psychology.
Every child has the ability to succeed. I thoroughly enjoy working one-on-one with students to help them achieve their full potential. My educational approach is to identify each student’s learning style and then work to accommodate the students’ areas of strengths and needs through a program catered to each individual student. I believe that teaching requires collaboration between educators and students. For students to become both motivated and inspired to learn, I believe they should always be given the time to explore, be creative, ask questions, and become critical thinkers.
During my teen years, I spent many hours of my time volunteering at multiple elementary schools and at a hospital in the Pediatric ward. Throughout the summer, I worked as a camp counsellor and truly learned my passion for children and teaching. I enjoy inspiring children to be the best they can and love to help children learn skills that will help them in their future.

About
Darren is a Mississauga born Ontario Certified Teacher with a Bachelor of Science in Chemistry, and minors in both Computer Science and Environmental Biology. Darren has always harbored a love for science and math since he was a kid. He was always curious about learning the secrets of the universe and sharing that knowledge with others. Darren has volunteered with multiple science-based youth outreach programs (such as Pueblo Science and Let’s Talk Science), as well as spent time as an independent chemistry tutor. There he grew his passion for working with youth and fostering their own love of science. However, it wasn’t until he lived abroad for a year in South Korea, working at an English private school, where he discovered his passion and desire to teach as a career. After his experience in Korea, Darren completed his Bachelor of Education at York University in the Intermediate/Senior levels. With his years of experience working with youth, both abroad and at home, Darren believes that harnessing a student’s innate curiosity about the world is the key to both igniting their passion for science and to help them develop the confidence to understand complex material. In his spare time, Darren loves balancing the science side of his brain by pursuing the arts through acting and film, as well as exploring the power of play, through video games and Dungeons & Dragons.

Jacobo Erazo is a 2nd-year Criminal Justice studies student at the University of Guelph-Humber. He has aspirations of one day being either a homicide detective or part of a police tactical unit. Jacobo has been studying and practicing French since the 5th grade. At the age of 10, he reluctantly switched to the extended French program at a new school, this decision turned out to be one of the greatest things that ever happened to him. His first French teacher Madame Saulnier taught him not only how to speak, read and write but also taught him about the culture and infused fun activities within the curriculum to make learning fun and interesting which helped him to appreciate the importance of French and how useful of a skill it would be in the future to have. The switch also helped him make lifelong friends that he considers family. French was more than just a language, it was an opportunity, it helped him obtain jobs, make friends, travel, and culture himself. Jacobo hopes to pass on the knowledge, importance, and beauty of French that was instilled into him so that others may reap its rewards also. Jacobo is also fluent in Spanish due to his Colombian background. In his free time, Jacobo likes to train Jiu-jitsu and Muay Thai, exercise, play soccer and hang out with friends.

As a teacher, I appreciate the difficulty that comes with finding a tutor who can meet your child’s academic and learning needs. Being well versed in the curriculum is a fundamental part of the tutoring process. Over the years we’ve been blessed to have good tutors in our lives, however finding a solid tutor at the high school level has been quite difficult. We feel greatly blessed to have found Prep Academy Tutors in Mississauga. Further to that, our current tutor, has not only explained math concepts to both my children (grade 10 & 12), she has done it in a way that allows them to understand it based on how they each learn. She is caring, extremely flexible, comes to our house and provides amazing feedback. She is so beyond amazing, my kids actually look forward to their tutoring sessions with her. I cannot express enough, how thankful I am to have her in my kids academic journey and I highly recommend this tutoring company.

My son needed to achieve a certain minimum mark in advanced functions to ensure his place in a post secondary programme. The tutoring he received filled in a few blanks that were missing and he improved his mark far beyond what he needed. Perhaps more importantly it gave him confidence that math isn’t as hard as he had been telling himself and that he will be able to figure out and excel at the math he will have to do in University. Thank you!!
